RogerWilkoJust had an email from Motability re the cars available at the Birmingham one big day
Not impressed tbh, most of the cars I wanted to see won’t be there
No Audi Q4
No Skoda Enyaq
Only ones I’m interested in is the Ford Mach -e and Hyundai ionic 5.
rest doesn’t interest me
ah well, I’m sure there will be plenty around the Ora Funky Cat and BYD Atto 3 tiny cars

Does anyone think that the C40 will actually make it on to the scheme though. Starting RRP of £47-ish isn’t it? That’ll be a £10k AP then. Mind you, if the roof is especially slopey it will be ruled out for me as not guide-dog compatible. Come Motability car search, where are the low boot entry, no load lip, powered tailgate, filters?
Given the ID5 and Q4 E-tron are both £48k and the Mach-E £50+ I’d fully expect it’d be another electric SUV around the £7-8k AP range. I’m not convinced, however, that the scheme needs a choice of so many similar cars at very similar APs. The advantage the Volvo offers is the spec of the base model over that of the others.
That slope wouldn’t make the car completely incompatible with dogs but the headroom in the back is significantly less than the rest of the offerings.

MikeIt will be crazy if cupra join the scheme and don’t add the formentor
May 11, 2023 at 11:14 am #221119It would seem a bit daft for Motability to have them at the one big event then not have them on the scheme….
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

RogerWilkoCars over £2,000 on the scheme 68 out of 659. I wouldn’t say that’s too many similar, I would say the choice too small for those wanting to pay high APs for higher specs

I get your point but that’s not what I was getting at. We currently have the Enyaq, Ariya, ID4, ID5, Q4, Ioniq 5 and Mach-E all being electric largeish SUV/Crossovers. If you’re going to add another EV, do we really need another electric largeish SUV/Crossover? Long range family hatchbacks are a limited choice, with the LEAF, Megane, ID3 (if it comes back) and MG4, adding the Born makes sense but I’m struggling to see what the Volvo adds to the mix. Maybe it’s just reflective of the way EVs are currently being produced and, generally, there are more of the ID4/5 type of body than any other and Motability are just reflecting the choices available to others?

PhilEmailed Cupra two days ago, but haven’t heard anything. Really want to know what models they are going to have on offer and the AP’s as it may just be enough to cancel my CX-5 order.
May 16, 2023 at 10:30 am #221531Seems Volvo have dropped off the list of attendees! Sadly.

RogerWilkoHi Adrian, where have you seen that?
According to the link on the first page of this thread, the C40 is still on the list?May 16, 2023 at 1:19 pm #221541
RogerWilkoNFillingham, I understand your point, but the market shows what are called midsize SUVs such as the ones you mentioned are in demand, and going ev on this size of car such as the Tesla model Y are being sold in numbers making it high in the cars sold each month, along with small cars, and we have a lot of those sized cars on the scheme

If you look at the manufacturers list here: https://motabilityonebigday.co.uk/the-big-event-birmingham/whats-on-display-at-birmingham/#obd-exhibitors-cars Volvo are no longer shown.

I understand that and it would suggest that the scheme should follow the market’s proportional offerings.
