In July I ordered a Toyota Corolla sports tourer, I was told there was a long wait, which I was expecting. The dealer looked at his computer and found a cancellation and said I can have it if I paid a small (£99) deposit. O was told this would be in the dealership mid September. Perfect, as my contract finishes Sept 25th.
After finding out that the car was taken off the scheme at the weekend I decided to pop in and ask if we were still on track for September. After looking at the computer the dealer said no as there was no car allocated to me. I asked him why did I pay the deposit? He kind of shrugged his shoulders and said these things happen.
He then said that the new 2023 model was starting in December, and that I could be one of the first to get it on the scheme. OK I thought. As I knew if I cancelled I would be waiting as long for a different car elsewhere. Then he said the advance payment on the new model will be a lot higher. I think this is wrong, as even though its a new version its still a Corolla and I should only pay the original AP.
