Just looking round at cars for July (if I change) and saw the 2023 versions of the CX-5 with the MHEV engine are now showing on the Motability search, the Exclusive Line would do nicely and is £1100 less than the N-Connecta X-Trail.

Anyone have any first hand experience of the current CX-5 2.0 petrol (manual) with regards to real MPG etc?

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

My old auto (I know you said manual) gives about 35mpg.

I know this isn’t exactly relevant to your enquiry but I test drove a standard petrol engined auto version back in December, it was showing an average mpg of 34.2?. It’s to be hoped the MHEV, in manual form, would be much improved on that figure.
Either way, I found it very unsettled, bouncy, and fidgety on the road, with plenty of understeer and extremely raucous on acceleration?.  A huge problem for me(pain wise) was also the lack of lateral support on cornering but maybe these issues were as a consequence of me coming out of my X1, which has upgraded sports seats to gain side seat bolsters and four way lumber support.
We all have differing medical problems that necessitate many specific ride and seating requirements, meaning others may find it okay for them?.

            Thanks for the inputs  🙂

I did look at a CX-5 back in (I think) 2015 and found the seats way too small to get into comfortably.

Given the curently available choices and high AP’s I may well just stick with the current Ateca, nothing really wrong with it apart from the terrible 19″ tyres, had a very light bit of snow and yet again no grip, totally useless.

Other options would be the Kuga ST-Line (£1745 AP) , I was looking at the e-power X-trail but the AP’s are way too high for me.  Although the Qashqai is the same height as my current Ateca I tried to get into a Rogue in the USA and couldn’t manage it.  I’ll have to go look at a RH drive Qashqai to be certain.

Luckily it’s the same dealer in Durham for all three makes.

Mazda claims it will return up to 42.2mpg with a manual gearbox or 38.7mpg as an automatic, So knock 10-15% of the WLTP figures and you won’t be far off.

My current Ateca is rated at about 43mpg and in this weather I’m getting 34-35.  Doing a steady 50mph on a speed restricted motorway last Sunday I was getting 43.

I’m taking my daughter back home tonight so 18 miles round trip, bit of 50mph bypass and 30mph standard rods, I’ll see what it averages when I get back later.

19 mile round trip averaged 36.2mpg, very quiet drive with little traffic, about 25% 50mph dual carriageway, 15% 60mph A road and the rest 30mph town.

Same trip Monday night was only 32 as it was -3c, tonight was a “warmer” +3c 🙂
