JamesJust reading the email from Motability and the below line got me thinking which manufactures could potentially be coming
We’re also speaking to some new manufacturers about trying to get their vehicles on the Scheme at some point in 2023.

I sure the Nio ET7 and ES8 7 seater SUV are available to purchase in parts of Europe and at one of them will be for sale here. The 150Kw versions are solid state technology and have an aclaimed range of 620 and 450 miles, bt doubt we will see them.
I like the WEY Coffee PHEV.

RogerWilkoJLR wanted to join, it was Motability who decided not to have them as they didn’t have a large enough range.
I contacted the Chief Executive of JLR at the time who have me this information and was confirmed by Motability Operations.

Arnold Clark is delighted to announce we will become the exclusive Scottish retail partner of BYD. One of our new Glasgow branches will be solely dedicated to BYD when it opens in early 2023

MaccaJlR haven’t got a big enough range, yet Alfa Romeo make it on with one vehicle ? ?

Yes I agree that doesn’t make sense. I remember when Land Rover were going to re join the scheme a few years back. I even saw the Motability advert that Land Rover released and then quickly withdrew at the 11th hour. It showed a Range Rover Evoque on it. So Motability had clearly agreed that the Evoque was going to be available, but had a last minute change of heart.
I love the styling of Land Rover products. I’ve never owned one but have driven several Evoques, several Freelanders (forerunner to the LR Sport), a Discovery and a full fat top line Range Rover. All were absolutely peerless off road but somewhat of a compromise on road. They almost always seem to come bottom in any reliability surveys and indeed on the rare occasions that I see a car broken down on the motorway these days it’s often a Land Rover / Range Rover. Given the poor choice on the scheme at present, I’d still seriously consider one if it came on the scheme though!

There more to it Macca – for a starters I very much doubt JLR will want to join the scheme again 🙂

While we are indulging unlikely scenarios I’d really like to see Polestar on the scheme…

JohnWhen are Mercedes joining the scheme again? Anyone have any confirmed news or dates?
February 5, 2023 at 10:34 am #208418Mercedes will return as soon as they’re unable to sell surplus stock. You could have a very long wait. Is there something specific about Mercedes that makes it any more suitable than Vauxhall for instance?

February 5, 2023 at 11:40 am #208424Boy are we judgemental again today, what happened – not enough EV drivers to slag off recently, some pent up frustration about that?
It’s a perfectly reasonable question
Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.February 5, 2023 at 11:43 am #208413

If you read my comments and along with what was said prior you will see I’m not anti EV. Like you I will not be preached to, only I’m far less abrasive than you ?
If MB were to rejoin the scheme any time soon, it would be an entry level “A” or “B” class.

RogerWilkoThe bounds between car manufacturers and other manufacturing is being redrawn, Hyundai with shipping fleets, Sont into car manufacturer, tine are certainly changing.

If they can put a £55k ID5 on the scheme, I see no reason the Ocean can’t be added at £49k 🙂

Fisker have plenty of pre-orders on the Ocean and they’re only just producing the US version. Given it’ll probably be 12-18 months before we start seeing them on our streets, even in the special edition version, I wouldn’t be holding my breath for them to join the scheme. It’s a shame the base model is well equipped and has a decent claimed range.

February 6, 2023 at 11:56 am #208493Unlikely to be sold in the UK for at least 3 years, if at all, and will be double the US price which attracts federal and state subsidies.
February 6, 2023 at 2:50 pm #208502Fisker is planning to sell direct in the UK, not through dealers. Hard to imagine Motability will want get involved in such a different model to the one they are geared up to using.
