July 23, 2020 at 9:03 pm #120126Soon we may as well just not drive at all, It’s no real fun driving in today’s world and it’s only going to get worse, As the eu rules and Un agenda 21 force the demise of the public owning a car and having the freeedom of movement to travel when and how one wants to and in what they want to, They want us all reliant on them and they will package it for our own safety and to save others from us humans.
Went into town today to get some cards from the card shop, before you gotta wear a mask tommorow as i won’t go to the shops then in protest and it was so quiet, didn’t see one person wearing a mask and in my area there are zero cases. Have been zero cases for weeks but right now the shops are open to all without masks and those who already wear masks are too scared to go shopping and making everyone suddenly wear one ain’t going to make them return to normal.
It’s alot like the cars they don’t stop you getting one just make it harder and less and less worth the hassle or more hoops to jump threw to discourage it. whatever it is. Like the sugar tax how many ppl now drink diet sugerfree artifical stuff. Eat healthy and no preservatives but sweetners are ok yeah!! Big pharma can be trusted? Soon we will have particle filters fitted to our faces if we not careful.

GeorgieWell, Rox, when my DH goes to the Pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions he’ll still be wearing a mask and gloves because he would rather not risk bringing home a virus that could kill me.
When my diabetic older sister heads off to the supermarket she’ll still be wearing a mask and gloves because she would rather not risk taking home a virus that could kill both her and our 89 year old mother.
When my older brother, who was born with psudoachodroplasia and has a severely malformed chest and small lungs, goes shopping he will still be wearing a mask and gloves because he’d rather not die alone in a hospital ICU.
When my younger brother and his wife and their three older children go anywhere they all wear masks and gloves because they don’t want to kill their two year old son/baby brother, who has Downs Syndrome and has a seriously suppressed immune system.
So you enjoy spreading your germs and making your little protest – just don’t make it near anyone I love.

Funny thing. My family were talking about going to Bala soon with the Kayaks and dinghys ⛵️
Sadly I can’t but the kids can and it’d be a great day out.
And you’re spot on. The Toyota would be a blast there. ?? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
July 23, 2020 at 9:56 pm #120134Yes and tha’ts right now and for the last 4 months or so, all with many others not wearing a mask, thats up to you, i have not seen my mother and she ain’t seen her grand children since Jan, my 9 year old daughter did not see her older sister all of lockdown because her nana is at risk.
Where as I’m not at risk or am willing to take my risks and social distance..Life is but one big risk.
I do feel sorry for those who have problems but where will it all stop. if your mask will protect you, why do others need to wear one as well.
Why do you feel other should have to wear one. where is the choice it’s like the video on the cars. They forcing it on us without choice. Thats my issue and no one will change my view of my personal choice.
I don’t use gloves i use hand stuff. Which imo is better than gloves and better for the enviroment.
I was run over when i was 9 years old by a car on a green man crossing the road should all cars be banned i could of died was in a coma for 2 days and have suffered ever since..I am now 47 This to me is like what you is saying..
As i said in my area of nottinghamshire there are zero cases and zero deaths right now. The ons say roi is 0.03% per the population of the whole uk.
My 16 year old son died almost 3 years ago in his room at home and was not i’ll, should i stop my other children from going to there rooms, sleeping in there rooms. because they might die.. I rememebr giving the kiss of life to my son i knew was alrerady gone, everyday. so don’t tell me i’m putting others at risk or my family, but also life is for living and time could be short..
If what’s coming your way it will come your way or mine and no mask will stop it.. You still got 33.33% chance of infection as masks don’t protect you from it fully.. A particle filter may.

ThargAs far am I’m concerned the only one of the “make cars boring” laws which should be questioned is the speed-limit enforcer. That is downright dangerous. There are times when exceeding the limit makes driving safer: want to overtake a heavy doing 68mph on a Mway. Do it at 70 and you’ll spend quite a while in his blind spot and at risk. Go to 75 and the manoeuvre is quicker and safer. There are plenty more examples with which I will not clutter up these pages. Point is the car’s computer should not, ever, stop you doing something more safely and put you and others at risk.
July 23, 2020 at 10:21 pm #120145Absolutely agree @Tharg and the car companies stance will always be that the driver has overall control and responsibility. And I also agree that it could be dangerous for exactly the same reasons.
As Mat says though, in the video, and even with systems out now (my last three cars have had limiters as part of the cruise control) they do have an override, if you floor the throttle, it immediately disengages. All systems do thisI find them pretty useful in areas I’m not familiar with.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
July 23, 2020 at 11:10 pm #120152Sometimes it’s not easy to floor it and is one reason sometimes i need to use sport mode as it means i have to press the peddle alot less to the floor to make the car go the same pace as in normal or eco is even worse and on the golf i did hav, it had an update and it made it so bad it would always be almost on tickover in the highest gear it could be as soon as you lifted or was cruising along at the speed limit and thats one thing i’m so glad about my current car after doing over 500 miles in the 1st month the cvt don’t do that stuff it keeps revs low but no gears or steps to go threw, so it can jump to any point it needs. I never use the limter i just use the acc, you cannot use both and the honda now has sign detection and smart limter but they don’t work with acc. Been driving 30 years and I used to drive for a living as well and it’s alot more stressful now because of all the rules and speed cameras etc it’s alot less fun and sometimes more dangerous. Like when the engine decides to stop/start just as you about to pull away. Ain’t missing that either.

Tharg…and the other things in the video are irrelevant, concerned only with how vehicle looks or sounds. They do not affect the enjoyable nature of the car, they just make it less yob-friendly.
I really do not understand why one would want to sit in a stationary car revving it out to the red line. The sound produced by the engine? Well as long as I can hear it to judge what it is doing, then fine. (Increasingly, cars are making their own, artificial noise, played through internal speakers. Damn silly – masks the real sound of engine and I can’t turn it off!)
If the shape of a vehicle helps avoid injury to pedestrians then fine. That said, however, the vid cites the Mini as an example of safety design messing up the looks. I think, rather, it is the manufacturer who’s done that on the Mini with non-functioning air scoops and race/rally grill styling to make it all more macho.

GeorgieWhen I was 17 a close friend of mine got drunk at her own birthday party and accepted a lift home from an older man who was, according to his autopsy report, four times over the limit when he smashed his open-top MG into a tree. She was sitting behind the driver. The car folded and the Police were picking bits of her face off that tress for two days before it was felled. Her name was Tracy Pye, she had bright blue eyes red-gold hair like a lion’s mane and she was so, so funny. She’s buried in Didcot Cemetery and I still visit her grave when I’m up there. The other backseat passenger, another friend of mine, was thrown into a water-filled ditch and wasn’t spotted until dawn – she still wears a back brace and walks with a stick. Her name is Debbie. Front seat passenger walked away unhurt. Didn’t know him or the driver.
So yes, Life can be short and Death can be sudden. And brutal. But I don’t celebrate her life by getting pissed on her birthday – I do it by never driving within 48 hours of drinking alcohol, and understanding that we all have a Social Responsibility to protect other people whenever we can.
