I see this has been added to the scheme today. Phoned my local dealer to see if its in the showroom and it’s not. Won’t be for another few months was the reply.

Same happened to another Stellantis car the e3008. I think it’s time mobility stopped putting cars on until they are in showrooms as it forces people to order a car they cannot see, sit in or test drive.

When I say forced I mean if a car seems to suit on paper and you take a chance because of the on, off, up, down hokey cokey nature of mobility and you’re afraid to miss out.

I must confess that I would never order any car without having had at least a half day test drive in it. Order in haste, repent at leisure!

I think you make a very good point des.

It’s almost as if manufacturers are running a “test poll” to see how popular a new model is likely to be. It may help their logistical departments to predict volumes for anticipated demand.

As you say, it means that Motability customers who often have more specific needs than other customers, are being asked to take a ‘leap of faith’ as to whether what looks good in theory will also be suitable in real life day to day use.

          It’s a worrying trend.

@des you got to remember Vauxhall is now owned by Stellantis and will share an awful alot in common with the 3008, you already have!

Glos Guy, I’m one of those people who have taken a leap of faith and ordered the E 3008 way before I was able to test drive it. I agree with you in retrospect that it is not the most sensible way to order a car.

I decided that because I’ve been very happy with the 3008 GT premium hybrid that I’ve driven for the past three and a bit years, and I was able to add the necessary options so it would be suitable for me. I’m now more than a bit apprehensive that the numerous issues related by some of our posters may feature in my car when it arrives.

My journeys tend to be mainly local so the ‘software glitches’ although frustrating wont be a deal breaker, if they can be rectified by firmware updates inside a reasonable timescale. However I think that both you and des make important points that the rest of us should think about carefully before making a ‘new vehicle decision’.

@POPS I’d say that’s far less of a risk for you as it will be very similar to your current car. The EV driving experience is very different though. 3 test drives were enough to convince me that an EV wasn’t for me, but your driving is very different so I’m sure you will be fine.

If not 100% happy then best not to order

Personally imo I wouldnt go near it for anotherr 12 months as it may well take that long to iron out the all to often initial gremlins and production errors

Well aware Kezo as the first thing I done was crawl through the Grandland broucher to see if it mentioned the mythical Stellantis V2L lol.

Glos guy Unfortunately that’s were I see the problem. If a car ticks all your boxes then more than likely you would order and take a gamble without test driving. If they don’t allow it then it can’t happen and takes that risk away. And if I return the car what’s the first question motability will ask, did you test drive it? Nope, because you put on the scheme before it was in showrooms. Why did you not wait until it was in the showroom, because you’d probably remove it or alter the price. TBF they did but to my advantage this time.

That will happen with me as I’m definitely getting rid as this morning was another pain, and another new problem.

I was similar to pops in that I had the 3008 and had an idea of the car, and that the little annoying things in it would hopefully be fixed in this, and they were TBF.

Ele I’ve heard it on here and other places about receiving brand new, built from scratch cars and didn’t give it much thought until this one but me in the… I don’t think I would do it again, but then the biggest thing for me regarding motability is that the car can be handed back if there is many problems. In my case, many problems, give dealer/Peugeot chance to fix, give the car the best chance ie trying to stick it out, but no I’ve completely lost confidence in the car. Especially after it unlocked, opened the boot and turned the radio on by itself. Similar to the other poster who had to leave the keys in the car over night to stop alarm going off.

Those two things are just completely unacceptable.
