IanAnyone know if the car brand Cupra is coming to mobility on the second Q
It looks a lovely car however I have only seen one on the road and have not viewed the inside or car spec.
So I wondered if any of you have any knowledge of the brand or if Mobility is considering them on to the scheme

No knowledge, but as Cupra is really a sub-brand of Seat (who Motability already have a relationship with) and some of the cars are within the arbitrary price caps, there’s no reason why some Cupra models shouldn’t appear. I guess that it all depends on whether or not Seat are keen to get decent numbers of Cupra cars on UK roads fairly quickly (in which case, Motability is a good route) or if they would prefer to keep the brand ‘niche’. Also, Motability seem to be sanitising choice to more and more bland offerings these days, so those tasty looking Cupra cars might be a bit too racy for the ‘choice police’ at Motability ?

DanteSaw them today as had to take a mate to lakeside for click & collect and they had two cupras in the seat stall in the car park – one suv (based on ateca) looks great but was driven off & a saloon (based in the Leon) – my friend was in a hurry so didn’t have a proper look tbh
I think it’d be doubtful they’d come on the scheme but very worthy – they look great in the metal
March 25, 2021 at 10:19 pm #143534Sadly, don’t think Cupra cars will get on the scheme. They are marketed as high performance models and even the “slow” versions are too sexy to allowed near Motability. The e-hybrid version of the Leon, for example, has a small 1.4L motor plus electric stuff which will take it from 0-60 in some 6.7secs. I believe it meets all the moral criteria to get on the scheme. But, there again, so does the VW Polo GTi which steadfastly refuses to appear on the scheme. I fear the Cupra range will be the same.

Shhhh Tharg, keep away from 0-60 times and Motability, my new Kona can hit that in 6.4 sec!!! As long as you can keep the wheelspin down that is 😉

72 dudesI actually think there’s a good chance that the Formentor in 1.5 TFSi guise will appear on the Motability scheme soon.
What we won’t get is the 2.0 performance version.
Not sure about the hybrid, a possibility I would like to think.
March 26, 2021 at 8:58 am #143555@Intranicity Yup. Shall be dead quiet about such things, particularly since my Cooper S has a claimed 6.7 secs for it, which can become 6.3 secs, so I’m told, if you fiddle with settings a bit. And no wheelspin!
March 26, 2021 at 9:02 am #143556I would love to see the cupra ateca on the scheme but it’s not got a chance
But the formentor (?) might slip in

Angus@Tharg Have you not tried the “launch” mode? It tells you about it in the manual, alongside a warning that you may just break the car. I tried it in my Cooper S convertible on the roads around Milton Keynes area. Blimey.
On that subject, if you really want to experience that “go-kart” feeling, MK has to be the best in the UK.
March 26, 2021 at 12:17 pm #143578@Angus Nope, haven’t tried it yet. There again, had a Skoda Superb with the 240-ish bhp petrol lump which also had the launch control. Never got round to using it. Will try the Mini one when I can find a suitable bit of tarmac, preferably away from proper roads. Have tried Sport mode with all the grip aids at the front turned off, i.e. with the LSD fully on. That can certainly concentrate the mind!
