Hi everyone
I have had my current vehicle, a Ford focus ST for 6 years now with no trouble at all. With all the problems we’ve had over the last few years I couldn’t find a suitable replacement.
At last I got an order in for a mini JCW premium pack and optional blacked out windows. Delivery mid to end of May. I nearly fell off my seat, I was expecting a very long wait.
Are the dates everyone is getting for delivery proving reliable?I hope so

The brakes are great, I’ve done one or two heavy stops and they’ve been rock solid, little grabby that makes doing maneuvers with the car a little jumpy especially with my cp.
That looks amazing! I’ll have to keep that in mind, over here we’ve got snakes pass which is great if a little short.
There’s a mini meetup this bank holiday locally that I’m tempted to go to.
April 25, 2023 at 11:34 am #220060Looks amazing Winston.
You’re right about tiktok or whatever else they are doing, the amount of people I see on the phone round here is crazy, it’s like driving is 3rd or 4th on their list of things to do whilst driving.
April 25, 2023 at 11:51 am #220061Ah you should seriously consider going to that Mini meet up then mate, I’ve never been to anything like that in all my years but I think that would be good fun and I’m sure your car would get lots of attention.
def sounds like a great way to spend the day and you might see some interesting like mods you can do yourself ??
I just googled the A82 and it’s nearly 170 miles long and after the first 15 miles it’s all beautiful scenery – there’ll be some decent videos on You Tube of it’s best bits etc
As for the todays driving especially with the youngsters it’s pretty bad isn’t it, their lack of etiquette, patience and overall care is pretty appalling
i know it’s no fun stuck behind a coach, lorry or camper van but sometimes you just got to accept it, slouch back into your seat and back off

Make melonade!April 25, 2023 at 12:09 pm #220066Mpg has been very surprising! Getting upto 45 mpg on the motorway and about 39 in stop/start traffic in Manchester. Getting around 400 miles from a tank
Like you, I didn’t choose our car (BMW X1 20i xDrive XLine) for cheap running costs. That was fairly low down on the list of priorities tbh after driver enjoyment, handling, refinement and infotainment etc. However, when the car also turns in much better mpg than you expected it’s an undoubted bonus. Our petrol X1 delivers around 4-5 mpg better economy than our previous diesel Tiguan (also 2.0 litre 4WD) and whereas driving the Tiguan was ‘functional’ driving the BMW is enjoyable. I’m pleased that your car is giving you pleasure. That’s very important these days.
April 25, 2023 at 12:12 pm #220067Here’s a couple of photos from the other week first using my drone – 2nd stopped at the side of the road for a quick pee ??♂️?
Stunning pics Winston. I’ve been to many places around the world that are very scenic, but few come near to the West Highlands of Scotland. Norway is the only one that I can think of that gives it a run for its money.
April 25, 2023 at 12:21 pm #220070Having driven well over half a million miles on U.K. roads over the past 40 plus years , I think that young drivers get a bad reputation that is often not deserved. Yes, you get the boy racer types who drive like idiots (and ramp up the statistics), but if anything most are quite cautious and very sensible as they are paranoid about having to re-take their test or being unable to afford insurance in the event of a claim or endorsements. Also, very few youngsters drink and drive in comparison to their parents or grandparents generations (drug driving is sadly a different issue).
After many years of studying who is behind the wheel of cars being driven badly, I have come to the conclusion that the worst offenders are elderly drivers, some HGV drivers (drifting into the hard shoulder whilst distracted – see that every week without fail) plus (and I shall put this diplomatically) those who may not have passed their driving test in the U.K. many of which are worryingly taxi drivers!
April 25, 2023 at 12:36 pm #220072Agree with all of that Glos Guy, the last bit is true, add to this amazon delivery vans and especially uber or just eat del drivers.
April 25, 2023 at 12:57 pm #220073The Black Mountain Road (A4069), takes in the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog as theWesh are wanting to rename it). Also featured on Top Gear and about 35 mins from me but, not much fun in a Hyundai Tuscon ?
April 25, 2023 at 1:02 pm #220074Lovely.
April 25, 2023 at 2:05 pm #220078That scenery looks amazing!
I’ve never drove anywhere else bar Scotland ??????? ?
well I’ve drove to Hull twice for ordering & collecting the current car but that’s it
Maybe I should look South for a change and do some exploring across the border ?

Make melonade!April 25, 2023 at 2:43 pm #220082Quite a few nice drives throughout the UK. My favourite is driving through Cheddar Gorge visiting family and a perfectly fun drive for a JCW!
April 25, 2023 at 3:41 pm #220085That looks stunning mate ???

Make melonade!April 25, 2023 at 6:17 pm #220104Just some info the JCW Crew , I’ve been reading up in preparation of the new car and apparently there is a known issue with the doors , more accurately the paint on the frame behind the door when it closed over and over again
you can get it repaired by Mini when the issue becomes obvious but I’ve saw lots of pics online and it’s not a nice look
so I’ve ordered these in clear and that’s the advice on some mini forums – it’s a relatively cheap prevention to keep our cars looking the best
I’ll attach the link
MINI Cooper Door Shut Paint Protection Kit (F56 | F57)
Cheers ??

Make melonade!April 25, 2023 at 6:49 pm #220111Maybe do a template of them before fitting – that way if they ever get damaged or rubbed through, you can get a small sheet of 3M 1080 self healing wrap or similar for a about a fiver 🙂
April 25, 2023 at 6:51 pm #220113Defo mate ?? good idea for everyone thanks

Make melonade!April 25, 2023 at 7:09 pm #220119Thanks for info Winston, it’s wierd for something like this to not have had a factory fix by now considering the size of their organisation.
April 25, 2023 at 7:12 pm #220120One thing I’m not so keen on is the size of the key, been looking at key covers that replace the round outer casing, look much better with a slimline outer from pictures I’ve seen.
April 25, 2023 at 7:13 pm #220121Yep you’re absolutely right , it’s like someone has sat on a cream egg ?
So if you find anything good please share away lol

Search for the following, it’s about 18 quid from.china or 40 from a UK supplier, looks identical.

June 24, 2023 at 4:47 pm #224280Hi all I had a rover sport pack Mini back in 1999 and my dad had many company car Minis including a van and a Traveller, but my order that I placed in March will be the first and biggest engine I have ever had in a car. I can relate to the OCD and people watching it affects me greatly and the colour I have ordered is BRG with red roof and Mirrors which the dealer said said to consider and I thought no way until they showed me one and it looked so good not garish at all, not sure when I will get it though they said about 3-4 months which maybe if lucky in Sep time. Remember UK Mini F56 forum as well.
June 24, 2023 at 6:27 pm #224289Good Stuff mate, I’m sure time will fly in and soon you’ll be a fully paid up member of the Italian Job ?
I’ve saw your colour combo in the flesh and it looks awesome ?? so that’s a great choice
not that we are experts by any means but if you have any questions about it then feel free to ask on the Italian Job thread as there’s now a few of us that have one and hopefully could answer any queries or concerns you have ??
