TheSUVGuyWill probably not be joining the scheme anytime soon but that’s not the point of this, just nice to see the new version of the car, hopefully we’ll be able to see it in the future when the scheme gets back to “normal” what do you guys think of it? I’ll be interested in what x1 owners think of it https://youtu.be/c9JKmElSAlY

Clever manThey look great it’s just the small matter of will they be on the scheme and will we only be offered base level trims
June 1, 2022 at 6:11 pm #186732As none of the current BMW range are on the scheme, I can’t see a new one being on any time soon.

Fastbike1000A bit conservative in design but that’s not a bad thing. Definitely hope they will come back on the scheme, then I can replace my X1 ?
June 1, 2022 at 6:37 pm #186738It’s not too dissimilar to the outgoing model. The big improvement is the dashboard which was looking very dated.
June 2, 2022 at 9:37 pm #186822
TheSUVGuyYes finally the new dashboard is a great addition

Design and looks i think are an improvement. This includes the interior which looks more modern. Its still visually recognisable as an x1 which is not a bad thing.
I am not sure how i feel about the removal of most of the buttons. Yes all manufacturers are including this in the design but i guess its hard to really know how user friendly it is until you have used it.
The idrive wheel i think was one of the best things about the current model as it was so easy to use and i could control most of the common features without being distracted from the road, this was very user friendly.
The big disappointment from the articles i have read are that features such as adaptive cruise control are an optional extra. In 2022 you would expect this to be added into the packages such the xline trim.
If this did become available (at a reasonable AP) I would seriously consider cancelling my current order which still has no build date or updates since October.

Djw38ukThis may be of interest as refers to UK spec…….
New BMW X1: The most important BMW EVER?! – YouTube
June 4, 2022 at 8:37 am #186878Posted this on the previous iX1 thread but re-posted here as more relevant;
We are 10 months and 9,000 miles into our current X1 ownership (2.0i xDrive XLine Auto) and still love it. Sublime refinement (engine near silent), high quality interior, performance (sh*t off a shovel if you want it to be), economy (mid 40’s mpg average and over 50 on a longer run – better than our previous Tiguan Diesel!), comfort (with the BMW Sports Seats) and first class tech (iDrive etc). Big boot for the wheelchair and, most importantly of all (for me), an absolute joy to drive.
As for the new X1, it addresses the one negative that I have with the current X1 in that it gets AutoHold at last. However, there are some big negatives for me. Firstly, the iDrive rotary controller has gone, replaced by a touch screen only interface. I know that this is the way that car manufacturers are going, but I agree with the motoring press (and many on this forum) that this is a retrograde step and does nothing for safety. Secondly the new model is very expensive for what is, after all, a small SUV (even though Motability call it ‘large’). Even before options, the comparable model to ours would be £45k. PHEV versions (popular with company car drivers and many on this forum) will doubtless be knocking £50k in decent spec. That’s too much for a relatively small car IMHO.
With the decimation of the Motability scheme I’m afraid that I can’t see the new X1 getting on to the scheme (even when the current chip and lead time crisis is resolved) but thankfully we don’t have to make a decision until Spring 2024 so we will know for certain by then. As it stands today we are about 90% certain that we will leave the scheme and get something that we ‘want’ rather than compromise with something that we are ‘allowed’. If we stay with BMW it will be an X3 or X5 or, if my wife finds a car easier than an SUV for access & egress at that stage, a 5 Series Touring. Pigs will fly before any of those appear on the scheme!
June 4, 2022 at 9:02 am #186882I personally found the current X1 to be too small, so making it bigger is a huge plus point as the new one will size up to our current XC40. The biggest issue for us though is whether they have fitted height adjusters on the front seatbelts. The outgoing X1 doesn’t have them and as my wife is 4’10” the seatbelt sat across her neck so was a total no no.
June 4, 2022 at 9:06 am #186883The big disappointment from the articles i have read are that features such as adaptive cruise control are an optional extra. The model designation for the new X1 is very confusing but, if I’ve read it correctly, Adaptive Cruise Control is standard on all variants that end with the word ‘Pro’, although I can’t see those variants ever making it on to Motability.
We had Adaptive Cruise on our previous car (Tiguan) and I didn’t get on with it. It used to brake when cars turned off in front of me and take too long to pick up speed again (admittedly this is a known VW issue – the BMW system is probably better) and on motorways I would suddenly realise that my set speed had dropped because of traffic ahead of me when, with normal cruise control, you would realise that you were gaining on the vehicle in front and just overtake to maintain your speed. I much prefer to be back to normal cruise control.
As I said in my last post, I can’t see the new X1 making it on to the scheme. If it does, it will be the low spec variants with whatever the cheapest / lowest powered engine is at the time (and it won’t be until next year at the earliest, as new cars rarely join the scheme at launch). I just can’t see the high spec / high powered variants that we were previously ‘allowed’ appearing again. In spite of the high prices, the PHEV may appear, but as with many of the PHEV’s on the scheme now, the AP’s would be eye watering and negate the running cost savings for the average Motability driver.

greycarThey loaned us a new Active Tourer while having a service, I’m afraid the dash is not for us, I was hospital visiting and doing errands (we had 2 disabled members in the household, one has no sadly passed away just on here for a bit of distraction sorry), so did not have time to experiment, after 6 hours I had not managed to find the time to workout how to switch on the radio. The removal of idrive and the climate controls is a big step backwards, Citroen now seem to admit this as they are now starting to reintroduce switchgear in new models, Auf Wiedersehen BMW et salut Citroen le procaine fois peutetre. Have a good day all.

BaggyBmw x1
Seeing as I’m on my 3rd one, you could say I’m a little biased however apart from a little road noise on certain road surfaces they have been the best thing I’ve done since joining the scheme. It’s a great pity that there no longer available on the scheme and I’m hopeful that they will return to the scheme soon. The one thing I would be seriously interested in would be the new bmw ix1 however I suspect it’ll be out of the price range for the scheme.
June 6, 2022 at 6:20 pm #187717One thing that is really bizarre about the new X1. The top spec (Pro) models have an electronically retractable tow bar as standard. Great news for the tiny minority of people who tow, but I can think of several things that the vast majority of drivers would find more useful!

DaveG46Glos Guy it’ll be good to show your mates once and say “its usually a grand for that lol”….you can have a leather dashboard at £1000 if you prefer :0, I saw something the other day where you can have BMW M 50 years badges at 300 quid on some models :0
June 7, 2022 at 11:20 pm #187810
PhilIt’s crazy to think manufacturers are still bringing new models out when you’ve got to wait 8/12 months for a current/old model.
Real shame this won’t make the scheme, like it would have if we lived in less depressing times.
June 10, 2022 at 9:56 am #187972So I asked BMW if they have addressed the issue of the X1 having height adjusters on the front seatbelts in the new model.
They couldn’t tell me.
If they don’t know what’s in their own product, then who does ? ??♂️
June 10, 2022 at 11:35 am #187977
TheSUVGuyMacca nothing annoys me more than when the company of the product doesn’t know basic information like that, surely they could’ve asked someone else or did a quick look into the files they’re sent before saying they don’t know also surely everyone should be trained on a new product or in this case car, yes it’s still early but they would’ve known about it for a while now

DaveG46Mecca if this is it to me it look like they aren’t … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p8nJL6w3RQ&feature=emb_logo
June 10, 2022 at 9:13 pm #188044Funnily enough Dave, I just watched that same video before dropping in here, and it very much still looks like there’s no height adjusters.
Poor show for a ‘premium’ brand

ldc7080looks more like an X3 now which is no bad thing. also love the new taillights.
June 13, 2022 at 1:01 pm #188227They’ve definitely nailed the styling, the MSport is a handsome machine for sure.
