Talking to our local Suzuki dealership he informed us customers are looking at very low or zero AP cars
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.

I guess its a sign of the times and people are feeling the pinch with their finances.
October 29, 2023 at 9:46 pm #240699Given a good number of eligible people would be very limited on the amount of work they do, it’s not surprising. Whilst those capable and willing of paying more would probably not be looking at Suzuki.

Suzuki offer the Swace which is a Toyota Hybrid estate, but without the Toyota higher AP

October 30, 2023 at 8:44 am #240734The Suzuki Swace is a rebadged Toyota Corolla made in the same factory, but cheaper, It also has a lot less equipment than the Corolla and feels more basic and it no longer is the excellent £0 AP and £499 AP it was six month ago. I am not knocking it, I am just contributing to the debate.

Totally agree disabled people are really struggling with rising cost and inflation, luxuries like a posh high specification vehicles are at the bottom of their priority list and try and make do with a low AP vehicle.

October 30, 2023 at 9:07 am #240738We struggled for more than a year to save the AP + hoist money for the Austral we just ordered. Total was just short of £4k.
The fact is, without things like power tailgate, seats, cameras etc. I wouldn’t be able to drive at all. Couple that with the struggle of finding a car that can take a hoist – very hard.
It’s a horrible position to be in and I know it isn’t just me.
Current: MY24 Renault Austral Iconic FHD. AP £3,995 +£570 for hoist.
Previous Motability cars:
2013 Ford Focus estate petrol auto.
2016 Vauxhal Zafira 1.4T petrol SE Auto.
2019 Ford Kuga Vignale 1.5 petrol auto AWD.October 30, 2023 at 9:54 am #240747We struggled for more than a year to save the AP + hoist money for the Austral we just ordered. Confusicated, I totally agree with you and I think it is an issue that most people don’t understand, what may well be a luxury to able bodied people and some people with lesser physical disabilities, is an essential aid to the more disabled amongst us, for instance I am a Spina Bifida/Paraplegic and cannot get into SUV’s and I need Leather Seats (whether real leather or not), electric hight and back and forward seats, a large boot for my wheelchair, a 360 camera which is a huge help when you have hand controls and it has to be an Automatic which can add over £1,000 to the AP.
Not all wheelchair users need a WAV, but most will have to pay a higher AP for a car that meets their needs.

As others have said the Suzuki Swace is a rebadged Toyota Corrola with both made along side each other in the same factory.
The Suzuki Across PHEV is a rebadged Toyota Rav4 PHEV both are made Toyota factory.
Suzuki and Toyota signed a memorandum of understanding in 2017 and a business partnership in 2019/20.
Toyota will use Suzuki’s platforms and expertise to develop new models, while Suzuki will outsource electrified vehicles and hybrid tech from Toyota – Toyota will use new Suzuki engines for it compact sector in Europe and Suzuki get access to the Corrola (Swace) and Rav4 (Across) for now. The 2 companies wll also take forward and develop automonous driving.

We have the added complication of us both being disabled, although only my wife is a wheelchair user so far.
We avoid WAVs because we’d rather the extra comfort and equipment offered by vars on the scheme.

Yes! Very crafty move, to make the AP seem cheaper than it is.

You are correct for some reason Suzuki increased the AP up front cost, except the Across which down by £1700

The only peopke who actually know what cars are being leased 7s Motability.
A single dealership is only a liw snapshot based upon their sales and the type of cars they have.
This forum is also a low volume compared to the 700,000 who lease Mitability cars.
Add to that the people who do pist are from the group that pays low ap’s and you get a slanted view if the scheme.
As I said, only Motability know the true lease situation.
