Just had a call from the dealer to say that our Mini electric has arrived that makes a factory spec car delivered in 38 day I have to say I am really impressed can’t pick it up till Tuesday due to the Motability 4 or 5 day rule but who cares can’t wait to see it. It’s been a long time since a car excited us so much. Had we not had the extended test drive we probably would have cancelled it or not ordered with the range horror stories reported on various blogs but in the 30 hours we had it we covered 220 miles with no anxiety at all I am convinced we can drive on the high side of range expectations much better than the one we have plus we get 6 hours cheap charging and a Mini full charge takes 5 hours 30.
I only have the stock order photo but will do some detailed shots soon I have the ceramic coating for it ready to protect the bodywork fortunately the weather will still be good.

My wife got pics from the dealers today of her new car as it arrived yesterday. Guess what though, they’ve got the spec wrong. She specifically ordered it with a Union Jack convertible roof and it’s come with a plain one. They’ve offered her full tank of fuel as compensation which I’ve said isn’t good enough. I’ve told her to tell them that she’ll order a new one from Marshalls and get the £500 off.
That’s terrible don’t accept it I know it’s a faf but get it ordered again you know how you want it and that’s going to always upset you delivery is really quick when I picked mine up the showroom was full and 3 transporters were arriving get that roof you want you won’t regret it.

That’s what I told her. Unfortunately she won’t wait another 7 weeks. If it was me I would tell them to foxtrot oscar.

Yes it has a black convertible roof. The Union Jack is woven into the fabric. My view is they should order her a new one and give her a loan car until it arrives but we all know that’s not going to happen. Why is the motor industry laden with idiots.

I really like that roof too plus make sure it wasn’t part of a pack and that other items are missing if you are going to keep it.
if it’s any consolation you are going to be really happy with the Mini it really is one of the nicer cars we have had in years I popped out tonight as I haven’t driven her in the dark yet it was like another car with the ambient lighting and the puddle lights you could sit in her for hours.
But also buying from Mini has by far been one of the best if not the best Motability experiences we have had, so I would suggest you make it clear to them what it is you want and how you want it resolved and maybe a backup call to Mini UK because I certainly got the impression they were a company that wanted you to have a good experience, so maybe this dealership needs to be reminded.

I spoke to another dealer who said the saleswoman had probably forgotten to tick the box for the roof. They said it’s not automatically part of the pack as some people don’t want a Union Jack roof for obvious reasons. It’s like they don’t care as they know they can sell the car easily as there are hardly any of them in the UK. My view is they should order a new one and give her a courtesy car until it arrives but we know that isn’t going to happen. They’re trying to blame my wife saying she should have checked the order but she did and queried the roof to be told don’t worry it doesn’t show you on there but it’s definitely been specified.
