Looks nice on the outside but I could not sit in that interior tbh
November 2, 2022 at 11:24 am #199651If you like the VW ID range then the MG4 is for you at a far cheaper price point. The long range has a 77kWH battery and a range 329 miles putting it close to the ID Tour. Equipment levels are good accross the range with MG Pilot which includes adaptive cruise control and access to the ismart app and a 10.25″ media screen. Sadly I don’t think the SE trim as Sat Nav. The Trophy trim has 360 cameras, live services, heated seats ans steering wheel. You can also use your phones bluetooth as a key similar to Tesla.
Most excitingly MG is to launch a dual motor variant with 33oKW (400hp). MG predicts it will have a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds 🙂 But we will have to wait untill 2023/24 for it and doubtful it would join the scheme. Its also rumoured to only have a 64KW battery 25o mile range.
Personally I think it looks better both interior and exterior than the ID3. The lack of a Sat Nav if true on the SE trim would be a deal breaker for many, leaving the Trophy as the prefered trim with the extra goodies, but increased AP
November 2, 2022 at 12:08 pm #199653I’m hoping that Motability will allow the electric Cupra UrbanRebel onto the scheme when it’s released in 2025…
November 2, 2022 at 1:03 pm #199663Should be a great addition to the scheme for many. It’s getting rave reviews with the experts calling it a VW killer.

Have you seen one “in the flesh”?
I thought it looked good on all the YouTube videos, but saw one a few days ago and really didn’t like the look of it.
Even though I didn’t like the look of it, it’s great to see another EV on the scheme.

If did not have a id3 on order from last October 2021 would have this in a heart beat.
November 2, 2022 at 1:45 pm #199672How does the MG compare to the Hyundia Kona both having 64 kWh batteries ?
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.

You are able to cancel your ID3 order without any problems if you wanted the MG4 and no doubt save money on AP at the same time.
The big queston is how long will it take to take delivery of an MG4 compared to the ID3, even though you have been in the q for 12months.

Good point as I liked the ioniq 5 until I saw it in the flesh and then wasn’t so keen on it. As you say it’s good to have another EV and with what appears to be an ok AP.
It is an OK AP isn’t it? Lol
November 2, 2022 at 3:08 pm #199682How does the MG compare to the Hyundia Kona both having 64 kWh batteries ?
The Kona does 24 miles more on a charge, but is smaller than the 4. The MG4 has faster charging and is an EV from the ground up ynlike the Kona. Both have a 0-62 acceleration just under 8 seconds. It will be interesting to see if battery specs differ in anyway. I don’t think MG use Cobalt but not sure on Hyundai.
I think the main thing is do folk prefer the traditional interior layout of the Kona or that of an EV built from the ground up!

Your stuck between a rock and a hard place right now Ted. Its worth a call to motability to see if they will honour the extra gcb if you swop on the grounds there is no end date in sight with delivery of the ID3.
November 3, 2022 at 7:15 am #199749If you are considering this car you might want to have a quick look at these reported issues with the MG4

Only a small sample admitedly but 47.5% of owners are reporting the leak.

MG reliability and their dealerships are questionable as highlighted on this and many other forums.

Agree. However I think alot of the onus is on 2bit dealerships who don’t know or can’t be bothered with what they are doing.
There are two dealerships within 30-40 miles of me. One is a very small back street family affair who lost their franchise with Suzuki before taking on MG and are known as cowboys in the area, with mostly 1 star reviews.
The other is a multi dearlership with convincing premises and are rated between 3-4 star.
