It’s the usual Chinese way. Get the product out there asap and let the consumer do the testing for them. Happens all the time in the industry I work in.
November 3, 2022 at 3:09 pm #199764I noticed an owner review that it is a pain it has not rear window wiper and that if he decided to buy again he would have to have the top end MG4 due to no reversing camera. As for styling i do like the sporty front end.I think the new 2023 Smart Electric which i hear will be available near Sep 2023 looks quite good.
November 3, 2022 at 3:14 pm #199765I have noticed a few MG4 knocking around in our area, I have to admit they do look the business.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
November 3, 2022 at 3:36 pm #199768I like the sound of the 400 BHP one.
November 5, 2022 at 7:33 am #199839I had a test drive in one yesterday and have decided that I will never listen to any of these reviews again, what these guys do is drive around and say this car is great and and its price point superb and it drives well (this is true apart from a rattle dashboard that would get on my nerves)
but the big sour point is some of us cant drive all the time and need to be in the passanger seat and unfortinately this is not one place I would like to be for longer that 30 miles, I would have to have both feet together to the right of the footwell, due to slight bulge from wheel arch then not only would that add pressure on them it would also be unstable with no grab handles on passenger side to get in and out..
these reviews are right in the car feels good from the drivers seat, but I wish they would spend time to check out ride for passenger side, no height adjustment either just forward and back and old style 80s lever for recliner. might of been better if seat was slightly lower. but in the passenger seat it just did not feel right.

Did you watch the 600mile road trip review by Planet auto I posted. Both have mobility issues to some degree especially her, I’m also sure they said the Passengers seat was 4-way Adjustable.
The main thing with any car you have got to feel comfortable and fit for your needs 🙂

passenger seat (was top spec trophy long range) has just forward and backwards and level for back rest, as I said its fine to drive, but no good as a passanger.

PeterI test drove one a couple of weeks ago. Not as refined as the DS3 EV I have currently but it’s a lot cheaper car.
I’ve ordered one as it’s the best available for range on the scheme ATM and I would like to do more stress free miles.
When I did the test drive I was told the wait was 2 months for the smaller battery and 4 months for the larger. My order form quotes 16 weeks so I will wait and see… ?.
November 7, 2022 at 10:48 am #199967I do think its a good car, if your only ever going to be driving it and maybe short journeys as a passanger, but if you sometimes spend long times as a passanger then I would not recommend it.. its a pitty, if the passanger seat had as much adjustment as the driver seat it could probably be put in a more comfortable position.

Hi, Have you gone for the SE long range or Trophy ?
Do let us know when it arrives and what you think 🙂

I quite like the exterior, but with any EV built from the ground up the interior is some what weird. I guess we will have to get use to it as time goes on.

PeterI went for the Trophy. It looks good in the flesh, in my opinion. Tbh, range and availability were far more important factors for me than looks anyway. MG seems to be one of the few manufacturers who actually have cars available instead of the pie in the sky maybe in a year nonsense that so many others seem to offer. I also wasn’t keen on paying the same money for a 3 yes plus car as I would a new one.

Nice. Have you gone for orange or a more subtle colour? Really like the outside but the dashboard layout is different and just a fact of getting use to it.
I can guarantee you will get your quicker than those who have waited 12months or more for the ID3 🙂
Let us know when you get it and pop up a little revie 🙂
November 8, 2022 at 7:30 am #200026Why when i look at it do i keep seeing a Triumph TR7
Anyway i think its a really nice car and on my radar to replace my Soul EV in 12 months if nothing better comes along. Personally i think the grey colour looks really fresh and looks just as good as any VW or BMW for that matter on the road today.
Look forward to seeing some pictures when you take delivery Peter
Good Luck

ldc7080i went to see this last Friday at my local dealer. i would say if you were a retail customer its a steal but as a Motability customer I don’t think so. the trophy’s AP is £1999 and the only car i think you should consider as it has the heated seats, wheel and more safety tech. Full LED lights front and rear and the coast to coast light bar on the rear spoiler The exterior is like 3 separate cars. aggressive front end, slightly boring side view and a futuristic rear.
inside is much better than I expected and a big improvement on the MGs of old. seats are a bit of a let down no lumbar adjustment even on top spec trophy. also another thing to note no grab handles either! speakers are distinctly average no rear reading lights , trim in boot is a big area where you can see they have compromised. for me they could have saved money not fitting alloys as the wheels then have aero covers for efficiency (the alloys look like something you bought from Halfords in 1995) that money could have then been used to tidy up the boot that looks like its missing some final bits of trim. boot itself is small
i did not test drive it but at 200 hp and RWD its obivous they have made a copy of the ID3. also the wheel base nearly compares also so the room in the rear is good. Dealer said wait time at present is 3 months or 4 months if you want the bright orange although VW guy told me 20 weeks in Sept 21 and I still don’t have a build week for my ID3

ldc7080surely your comment only applies to retail customers? the price point is irrelevant to Motability customers
I have a ID.3 tour pro s on order for £1349 as everything and more that the top of the range trophy has but that is £1999 AP both cars require all allowance.

The question you should be asking is how much would the advance payment on ID3 be if it was still on the scheme today? The answer would be a dam site more than the MG4. So in todays world it represents greater value on the scheme,
I went for an hour test drive in one and whils’t its too small for my needs the interior was like the ID3 which will take me some time to get use to. I also thought the exterior was far more eye catching than the ID3.

I dread VW pulling the Max and Tour.
I love the orange for the Trophy.

November 10, 2022 at 2:28 pm #200123I like the look of it, but why on earth doesn’t the passenger seat have the same amount of adjustment as the drivers seat!
