Finally I have my car with charger, hoist and new small electric wheelchair. Only done 60 miles so far as only collected it today but very pleased. I did try upload photos but they were too big. If anyone would like to see photos of the chair in the boot. I could whatsapp or something. The single back seat can still be used too if needed. My neighbour has had a ZS EV Exclusive for nearly 18 months now and gets a real world range of around 140 miles.

Thanks Georgie. Really pleased and so much kit on the car for a £200 AP. I fully understand that home charging and a realistic range of a 140 miles won’t work for some. Luckily I have access to another vehicle for long trips so can avoid range anxiety and hassle. It took a long time and a lot of effort to get the right chair, car and hoist combo. Hopefully a happy 3 years of low cost and enjoyable motoring ahead. Also I think in 3 years time EV cars will have a far greater range and the scheme will offer more choice for those with complex needs and electric wheelchairs.

Since 2018 they have also been selling MGs no chance of converting this CItroën Nut it’s in my blood lol but he was saying he had one of these MG ZS EV as a company car and loved it.

Your range may be a bit less in winter, but you’ll work that out when we get that far. CCS charging will soon get you filled up again if you want to go for a wander, just use ZapMap to find thoose chargers. Also Ecotricity is putting reliable CCS chargers at motorway services, as in replacing the old junk chargers that were so unreliable, and it’s driven by a partnership with Gridserve so is happening right now.

There’s room under the bonnet to create a “frunk” or should it be “froot”? I had a chap show me how he had put what he said was the undertray from the boot into the front with some remodelling. What this allowed him was the storage of his charge cable at the front, together with all sorts of other stuff he’d put in there.

Your wheelchair looks good, I had a look on their site, very similar to my now quite old Foldawheel, don’t let the batteries on that go to low like I did (a day around Whipsnade), it knocked quite a bit off my range & I’d probably benefit from some new batteries, but I think I got it in 2015 so I can’t complain, the only other issue was a front tyre coming off the rim, which I heated in hot water & put back on & it’s stayed on since.

Thanks Julie. First 100 miles done. Very pleased. The whole combination is working well. Do you have a video or photos of the front trunk in action please? My BP pulse charger is fixed cable so I only have the 3 pin charger from MG. I may investigate buying another charge cable. I have a V8 RS4 Audi estate for longer trips. I love the noise while I still can!

I don’t, I’m sorry, it was someone else’s car, we were both hoping to charge on a 7kW post at a supermarket but the only one working had been hogged by a fully charged Outlander PHEV, & we got chatting about his MG ZS EV & my Pug e2008, having a compare. Lovely weather & lovely people, more fun chatting about our EVs than doing any shopping.
