      What a wasted afternoon 🙁

Was coming home via Durham so went looking at the 3 BEV’s I have short listed,

1.Toyota BZ4X – Nice big car, higher than my Ateca but a complete waste of time, massively raised floor meant I couldn’t even get into it, unable to duck down far enough and steering wheel blocking my knee.

2.Nissan Ariya- Much the same problem but at least I could get in, then found the steering wheel is resting on my knees, and that was the flat bit so turning it would be difficult!.  As reported on a couple of reviews the view to the instrument display is partly blocked with the steering wheel and it was at it’s highest setting.

      3. Hyundai Ionic 5 – Coud just get into this (about the same size as a Kia Niro I looked at) but cramped inside and would be no shoulder to shoulder room for mt son and myself.

      4. Seat Enyaq IV – Managed to get in/out ok, about the same as my Ateca.  Decent size book and headroom, thay have a couple of the 62Kw in stock in the suite trim but adding heated seats (Clever Pack) adds an extra £2755 more than doubling the AP and really doesn’t add that much in the way of kit.

I may look at is the Audi Q4 E Tron, it’s £5999 so more than I want to pay but may be my only option for a full BEV at this point.

The Mazda CX60 was very nice (and big!) no problems with it at all but it’s a PHEV with only a 30-35mile battery range, in Homura trim it’s £6,695

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Hi mate, Out of interest I looked at the Q4 E-tron and found it best of the VW bunch especially the interior. It would be rather similar to the VW id4 and “Skoda” Enyaq in dimensions, which are more of an upright SUV rather than the SUV coupe style. The floor of an EV is raised to accomondate the batteries under the floor, so this may be what you experience!

The Mazda CX60 comes with optional packs, The Homura base spec is £6695 then you have the discounted Convienience pack and sunroof taking itto over £7k, there is also the option of driver assist pack that is not discounted at over £1000

I’m considering the base Exclusive line with comfort pack (inc on Homura spec) and conviennience pack, which would take it to  £6495 undecided on the driver assist pack. The only thing it misses out on is the Bose sound system and the face recognition that sets your seat height but often get its wrong,

You will not get a charger fitted by Motability, although you can still go ahead with Kerbo and will have to either plug into a socket inside the home or install an outside socket!

            Thanks  🙂

Yes, shame about the charger but I think I’ll go take a look at the Audi, and of course there’s the MG ZS Trophy long range, a lot cheaper and would get me from A to B.  Only thing that puts me off it is one of my neighbours had a HS for about 6 months and had numerous problems with it.  In the end Motability took it back and he’s now got a VW T-Roc he’s very happy with.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Neighbour has just had his 2nd ZS ev (not motability) and he thinks they are great especially the updates on the later dedicated EV platform and won’t have anthing else other than MG. As you say it will get you from A-B and keep money in your pocket if suitable. MFillingham has/had the older short range ZS with little problems I believe and the later one is superior!

The earlier HS I believe had some gremlims in the electrics but, the new model gets far better reviews inc owners on youtube and Dougie B on her swears by them.

Good luck with your searching  and do let us know if you find something 🙂

Just been to my local VW dealer (swore I’d never go back there!), eventually asked what I wanted (30mins) and then took almost 20mins for someone to turn up and say I don’t think we have an ID4 !!

Eventually found one (customers) and then had to get it out so I could try it for size.  I managed to get in OK, seats are better than the Enyaq (narrow bases) but were cloth/fabric as it was the Life trim.  So it’s a possiblity.  Salesman said 12 weeks build time but probably 5 months as VW may take 2 months to start the order.

No brochures anymore , said to go online, said I already had but it’s over 2 years out of date with old trims no longer sold.

I’ll try and get through to see the Audi Q4 next week but thats a 35 mile round trip.

The Q4 Etron sport – comes with leather seats as standard with the latest model.

Last time I looked at Audi stock locator there were some instock but may need to travel. Its worth looking at the VW stock locator, see if theres any in atound your area.

I may be looking at the VW as it has the Climate widscreen as standard, it’s an extra on the Audi but I can’t find on the Audi configuator.  Neither VW or Audi seem to be able to supply a brochure or current PDF version.

Don’t forget you can pre heat the cabin of an EV, so not sure heated windscreen is a deal breaker. I think the q4 hasmore physical buttons rather than touchscreen based if thats important.

Open the link scroll down untill you see “explore trim levels” – underneath that is “build” – underneath that below the car is see “trim details” click on this. (at the bottom of the page is optional extra’s

You have looked at VW’s website and said the trim features were out of date?

Scroll down the page till you see all id4 trims, at the bottom of each trim it says “show all standard euipment”

Sorry, I meant the only downloadble brochures I could find online were out of date.

I’ve configured it on the VW website and got a spec list emailed, same with the Audi.

The more I look at the online reviews the more the Audi starts to look the better choice.

Looks like I won’t be getting to the Audi dealer today, will have to leave it until maybe next week or just hang on until I get confirmation the council are def going ahead with the kerb cable gully.

I’m still very tempted by the Mazda CX60 PHEV, it’s certainly more than big enough!.  Most of my journeys will be well under the 39 mile range and an external 13A socket would do for charging.

Did the Skoda dealer not say the iv80 standard Enyaq coupe cones with heated steering wheel as standard?

No, it was like getting blood out of a stone to be honest!, she only seemed intested in pushing the few 60’s they already had in stock.  I’m now wondering if it’s (as mentioned elsewhere) there maybe a battery and software upgrade coming?

It’s the heated seats I could really do with, I can manage without and just buy a plug-in heated pad I suppose 🙂  but I did find the seat bases a bit tight with the side supports pushing into me.
