PhiljbSo yesterday I tried to pop into my local Vw dealers, the whole showroom was empty and the windows partly covered.
No warning letter? As my car is registered to them.
A busy dealers in west London closing? Caused by brexit?
Thoughts.

More likely caused by the emissions scandal and their subsequent inability to supply vehicles in a timely manner.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.
Skoda Karoq SEL.

PhiljbIt was always really busy and the parts and service centre too.
The emissions scandal was years ago.
Also they weren’t the only manufacturer with delays etc.

SaintsManHave they moved somewhere else Phil? A couple of months ago I drove to Stansted, the route takes me past the St.Ives VW dealership, on my return a few days later it was boarded up, no signs saying they were closing or moving. Turns out they’d moved to Huntingdon beside an Audi dealership.
The emissions scandal was only 4 years ago and was the biggest disaster to the motoring industry that I can remember in my nearly 60 years. Mercedes, BMW and others had diesel engines in the pipeline which produce virtually zero NOX emissions in real world driving, but thanks to VAG only a few of them will ever make it on to the roads.

Philjb4 years is an age in the motor trade, things have moved on lessons learned that you can only cheat the system so far before you get caught. Lots of other manufacturers did the same.
I owned one of the effected cars, but mine was remapped and didn’t run on Vw software, it still passed every mot and was the most reliable work waggon I ever had.
It’s not likely to be the cause of why the dealer closed I can only think the rent was too high as it was newly built about 5 years ago.
The sign on the door says for parts visit Battersea Vw which is 15 miles away.
For sales and servicing visit www. Vw uk etc.
They only serviced my car 2 months ago.

JackYeah that Morden VW dealer has closed and moved staff to the new showroom in Battersea that’s recently been reopened
August 11, 2019 at 10:55 pm #85113I wish my 10 nearest VW dealerships would all close as they are all Arnold Clark ?
The staff are like a blend of DFS, Kwik Fit and your local GP Receptionists all rolled into one
Smashing… ?

My son wanted a Dacia Duster, his GF said “There’s an Arnold Clark Dacia dealer around the corner, why are you using one 40 miles away?” His Reply: “Dad would disown me f I bought a car at Arnold Clark”.
Too right. Bought there once, never, ever again.
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
August 12, 2019 at 1:31 pm #85126Wise words and I’m glad your son paid attention!
I’m sure we’ve all been stung there once before or know someone very close to us who has
I’ve been going to a fair few dealerships with a friend recently who changes her mind more than the Scottish climate does!
But it doesn’t matter what Arnold Clark branch I go to, I just get a horrible vibe off the place the min I roll in
And have this uncontrollable urge to smack the “advisor” with my one of my crutches when he starts to talk ???
