Volvo is rapidly accelerating its transition to EV only vehicles,
Being wholly owned now by Geely it will be interesting to see how Volvo goes forward with their vehicles and technologies.

I think there will be extra tariffs if manufacturers want to sell ICE vehicles. I can’t remember where I read it, maybe something @kezo put up??
So whilst the deadlines may move for phasing out ICE cars, the punishment for selling them isn’t. Go figure!

It is a £15k fine, that comes into force from next year and its based on a % of sales being EV’s rather than completely EV’s
March 27, 2024 at 2:40 pm #270037I thought there was something in the pipeline. There will be implications for Motability and us.

Absolutely
March 27, 2024 at 3:19 pm #270047The ZEV mandate which will increase the number of EV’s manufactures will sell each year before they are fined £15k per vehicle however, manufacturers can by carbon credits from other manufacturers to to avoid these fines. Welcome to the UK ?
Has a letter from Motability today inviting to the Big Event, where I can see the schemes largest display of vehicles including an increased range of BEV’s.
Apparantly there will be a fantastic speaker line up on both days, with the hot topic being the latest scheme news on their journey to electric vehicles!
Welcome to the Electric Motability Scheme!

The fact that manufacturers can just buy carbon credits just shows how halfhearted this legislation is.

March 27, 2024 at 4:02 pm #270067It all a big con mate!
Ive never being to the Big Event and unlikely to ever do so!
However, if you visit motabilitythebigevent.co.uk it should give details of how to live stream it along with all the information.
March 27, 2024 at 4:11 pm #270073I have been to a Big Event, even displayed my trike at the one up here a few years back.
Like a lot of things, worth going once!
