      Hi all.

Just trying to see what most people have been told what there waiting times are at the moment. Mine was ordered on the 1st of April (I had been waiting for the Sportage as it had been rumoured to be in this quarter) I was told September for the gtline s hybrid FWD by the dealer but I’m not sure to believe that!

      What have others been told?

Congrats! Ordered exactly the same car on 1st April as soon as the dealer opened and not had an ounce of info yet

@lab if you want a Flame Blue GTLS MHEV, I’ll let you have mine now, I’ll happily wait for a HEV 😉

Love the car and it’s more nippy than I thought, but my worries about fuel efficiency were justified.

I’ve left it in Eco, driven 33.1miles and only achieved 24.9mpg 🙁 I hoped that the £700 saved over the HEV would compensate for the extra fuel used, but if these figures don’t improve, I’ll be very much out of pocket.

We went to London and back over the weekend, we was in eco mode and mostly motorway driving and got 47 mpg, the little trips we did driving around got 35, that was in out 1.6 petrol awd auto

@DJP when I test drove the HEV I achieved 40.9mpg in similar driving conditions. My mostly short journeys include lots of stop-start driving (junctions, traffic lights) which is where the more electrified cars do well. I just wish there had been a MHEV to test drive. I was only 2-3 days late in ordering the HEV.

I’ve just sold my Golf which would have achieved around 40mpg in similar journeys. On motorways it was achieving 55mpg when travelling 70mph and if there were a few stretches of 50mph roadworks it was well over 60mpg.

I’ve filled up today with Premium unleaded. Hopefully the engine will loosen up and give me a few more mpg. I was so close to cancelling the order many times, but then I’d read comments on forums stating fairly good mpg.

Sorry gilders just realized I left the M off my post, should have read MHEV LOL stupid dyslexic fingers.

You are getting 24.9mpg, that’s bad. I knew the previous model was thirsty, thought a mild hybrid would be a bit better, possible 30mpg.

To be fair to the car, my journeys are in a hilly area, with lot’s of stop-start driving, so no car will achieve it’s estimated mpg.

But when comparing it to my previous car and the HEV I test drove, I wasn’t expecting it to be 60% worse. Official combined fuel consumption is 40.4mpg, the HEV is 48.7mpg. The HEV I drove was about 19% below official figures. My MHEV is about 62% below official figures.

It really does show the benefit of Full Hybrids for stop-start journeys. I suspect on the motorway the mpg will be much closer. The MHEV has less battery weight, although it does have AWD which also eats into the mpg. It’s a shame 2wd wasn’t available.

Gilders is it an automatic, as i find with most auto’s I’ve had recently, that they programmed to keep the revs as low as possible for emissions and when you come to a hill or need to accelerate you got to put your footdown more than is needed if the revs was higher, which is maybe increasing fuel consumption.

My last car had sport mode and eco and it increased and decreased throttle responses, which for me i prefered to drive in sport mode as it meant i had to press the peddle less to make the car go and there was very little difference around town. On a longer journey cruising, i’d put in eco and get better mpg as the acc would not accelerate as fast back up to the set speed as when in sport mode.

My new car is a MHEV but it only has the one mode.

I sometime use the paddles, but it’s not always as it’s easy as just lettting the autobox do it’s thing. Guess that is maybe the downside to driving an auto. It cannot read the speed matching that is needed early enough and most of the time half way up a hill it then kicks down also.

Currently i did put some e5 fuel in my car and reset all the counters, as i’m just driving urban for the next few weeks to see what effect it has. Was getting 40 mpg but then yesterday did a bit driving in the hilly part of town and it’s gone down to 35 mpg all using just the auto.

When i next fill it then i gonna try using the paddles and keeping rev’s higher, see what effect it really has but i do suspect it will be better.

kind of is the same when i use acc and just leave it when it come’s to a hill the mpg goes down alot so i click the speed down if i can be bothered that is.

If your car don’t have paddles many do have manual mode like my 2017 golf did and one can use that to try and get a better mpg via control of the revs and gears.

                          Hi

Just received an e-mail from my Motability specialist stating that we still have a delivery date of October but no other details like a build date etc!!

                          Watch this space!

Probably not a problem but anyone waiting for the mild hybrid GT Line S 48V should perhaps check when they eventually get the car that it is the AWD version as ordered.  This was the only version of the GT Line S after the deletion of the hybrid from the scheme – indeed a front wheel drive only version wasn’t available at all in the UK.  That version has now been introduced  on 1st October and the all wheel drive model now has AWD in its title to distinguish it,  Even though all wheel drive (and classified as such on the Motability website) this was not included in the title previously, hence the (admittedly unlikely) source of possible confusion.  From the same date the slightly lower spec 4 model has been deleted from the range.  This was on the scheme too until late May. Presumably they will continue to make this version to fulfil orders already taken.

I ordered my Sportage in March, was told it would be a 9 month wait. That has come and gone and still no sign of it?
Not even a phone call from the dealership. Nada, nothing.

Sorry David your post is confusing.  The AWD or gt line s are not currently on the scheme as far as I am aware.

There have been no Sportages on the scheme  since May.  I was flagging up for those waiting for delivery of their car to check that it is in fact the AWD model as on 1st October Kia introduced a FWD version not previously available.  Whether they might actually prefer the FWD version is another matter but they ordered and paid for the all wheel drive one.  Even living in the Scottish Highlands as we do I think I would swop the increased economy and (slight) performance increase for the very occasional benefit afforded by four driving wheels.

                                      Hi All,

For those lucky enough to have taken delivery of their car, i am interested to see what sort of mpg you are achieving, particularly if you have a MHEV?

Also, would be great to hear if anyone else has picked up their car and what their order date was.

                                        Hi AzzaL14.

It’s terrible for short stop – start driving. I’ve been averaging about 25mpg.

Finally got to take it on the motorway and A roads. Driving around 60mph for a fairly extended run, i was achieving around 45mpg. My previous car would have been achieving around 55mpg, but that was a very frugal Golf. I think for a AWD mid-sized SUV 45mpg is about average.

Unfortunately, 95% of my journeys will be around 25mpg.

Please note these results are based on the onboard trip computer, not from refilling and manually doing the sums. This has also been with 2 fills of premium fuel. I was hoping it might improve the mpg. I will soon refill the car and do my own calculations. I’ll also be refilling with regular fuel to see how much of a difference it makes.

I have been happy and surprised with how responsive and quickly the car sets off (i.e. 0-30mph), for, what I consider, a fairly low powered engine. But yesterday’s motorway driving quickly reminded me of lack of power when I overtook someone.

I have the GT Line Petrol running on Eco Mode with start/stop and only covered 1200 miles. All my journeys are short with about no more than three to five miles covered and I am averaging 31.8 MPG which I am happy with. On a motorway run of over ten miles which is very rare this jumps considerably when sitting at 60mph.

Gliders – Do keep us updated, very interested to see if it improves for you.

Alan – I feel your pain, ordered similar time to you and not a word from dealer.

Max – Is yours a standard petrol or is it a hybrid of some sort?

I am currently considering cancelling my order. The mpg of the mhev being one reason and the continued wait without any communication from the dealer being the other. Having looked around, i like the Seat Ateca FR Sport and the Skoda Karoq Sportline. Rang dealers for both and the Ateca has an expected delivery of March if i were to order and the Karoq an expected delivery of January. I think both are not as nice as the Sportage and the AP’s are alot higher, so i am inclined to just wait for the Sportage it seems.

@AzzaL14 I’ll keep you updated with mpg. I know @Lab posted his MHEV was averaging 25.9mpg, so very similar to mine. I do live in a hilly area which will, of course, result in higher fuel usage.

I was also looing at cancelling my order, but there was nothing on the scheme suitable at an acceptable price. I was looking at the second hand market, but suddenly the car had arrived and my current (privately owned) car needed work doing. So I sold the car the same day as picking up the Sportage.

If I were you, I would keep the Sportage order unless I drove over 10,000 miles per year on short journeys. The HEV Sportage was well worth the extra £700 imo and it still frustrates me that I missed it by a few days.

Like you Gilders I missed out on the HEV by a couple of days (stupidly procrastinating  as hadn’t been able to see any colours apart from the demo white/black) and have been wondering about cancelling since, one of the reasons being the possible usual hesitancy of the dual clutch launching into busy roundabouts etc.  However following what you say I have put th9is doubt to bed.  The other reservation was the ride quality with the 19 inch wheels.  How do you find that?  I see that from 1st October Kia is offering a front wheel drive version of the MHEV which would help the economy/performance a little given the reduction in friction losses and weight (I see the AWD MHEV is only a few kilos short of the full hybrid in two wheel drive form).  Anyway, too late for us.

One thing to lookout for with KIA cars is the under stated reading of there MPG on the on board computer.

My current car is coming up to 4 years old (KIA Carens heavy tank) and the ship’s computer says its doing 33 MPG but the true MPG is 38 MPG and using a computer program to calculate MPG on every refuel I get 100% accuracy.

When I look at the difference between 33 and 38 MPG the maths adds up to the possibility that the cars computer is set to US gallons and my car being only a trim level of 3 out 4 does not have the option to change things like US gal to Imperial gals.

There were a lot of users in the KIA Owners forums reporting their cars where set to US gallons on delivery and although with them having trim level 4 were able to change it, for myself I got shrugged off by the dealer saying it is correctly set but the true MPG says different.

I would imagine this option is changeable in the new Sportage so worth having a look to see if it might be set to US gallons as the South Koreans think as we speak English we must be in the USA.
