Hi all.
Just trying to see what most people have been told what there waiting times are at the moment. Mine was ordered on the 1st of April (I had been waiting for the Sportage as it had been rumoured to be in this quarter) I was told September for the gtline s hybrid FWD by the dealer but I’m not sure to believe that!
What have others been told?

Thanks @ChrisK I did go in to the “Units” settings as car was set to KPH. I think I would have noticed if gallons were set to US, but I’ll double check.
I did attempt to do a manual full-to-full reading, but when I got back in the car it automatically reset the trip reading. I’ll have to remember next time to take the reading before filling up.
October 9, 2022 at 11:11 am #197899I have had the Tuscon Ultimate 1.6 petrol (same engine as the Sportage) since March and have covered nearly 3000 miles. I am averaging 28mpg in eco mode local journeys. On long journerys 0f 170 miles or more each way visiting family, I average 42-44mpg. My long term average is 32.2 mpg which personally I think is crap.
My neighbour has had a Sportage 3 trim MHEV and was one of the first to get one. They average near identical but no more mpg than I do, nor is it any quicker through the rev range.
IMHO MHEV is a gimmick to please/help company car drivers with tax and nothing more. Sadly (no rudeness implied) alot rushed to get the MHEV after the HEV was taken off the scheme, where as it would have been better to have saved the differnce in ap and gone for the ICE and putting the difference towards fuel.
October 9, 2022 at 11:36 am #197903The HEV was available when I booked a test drive which was a week later. In the interim the HEV was removed.
Customers could only choose ICE if they wanted a manual, or one of the top two trims.
My Golf’s stop-start system would only become unavailable n extreme conditions that caused battery charge state to be too low (Heating, aircon, cold, etc). This MHEV with it’s 48V battery and ISG (intelligent stop-go), has already started preventing the stop-start/go system working.
The software update takes “up to 1 1/2 hours” and must be done with engine running. Luckily I have a 3hr+ trip to hospital next week, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to access the SatNav, radio, media player etc.
October 9, 2022 at 11:57 am #197906Customers could only choose ICE if they wanted a manual, or one of the top two trims.
I forgot that was the case with the Sportage gliders.
I haven’t bothered doing any software updates on the Tuscon and personally think it crazy in this day and age Hyundai/Kia don’t do OTA updates like most manufacturers, but good luck with your update attempt and hope your hospital vsit goes well 🙂
October 10, 2022 at 9:13 am #197947I live in London and my daily commute is 14 miles. Like you Gliders, my journey is very stop start, often with bumper to bumper traffic. I am expecting to get a similar mpg you are getting unfortunately.

October 18, 2022 at 10:52 am #198498One thing to lookout for with KIA cars is the under stated reading of there MPG on the on board computer. My current car is coming up to 4 years old (KIA Carens heavy tank) and the ship’s computer says its doing 33 MPG but the true MPG is 38 MPG and using a computer program to calculate MPG on every refuel I get 100% accuracy. When I look at the difference between 33 and 38 MPG the maths adds up to the possibility that the cars computer is set to US gallons and my car being only a trim level of 3 out 4 does not have the option to change things like US gal to Imperial gals. There were a lot of users in the KIA Owners forums reporting their cars where set to US gallons on delivery and although with them having trim level 4 were able to change it, for myself I got shrugged off by the dealer saying it is correctly set but the true MPG says different. I would imagine this option is changeable in the new Sportage so worth having a look to see if it might be set to US gallons as the South Koreans think as we speak English we must be in the USA.
Unfortunately my mpg was even worse after doing manual calculation. The onboard computer stated 41.9mpg, but my fill-to-fill calculation is 40.96mpg. Not a massive difference, but unfortunately shows that my car isn’t set to US gallons. This was a 381 mile journey with 95% of it on A roads and motorways. For comparison, my previous car (2016 Golf GT) would have achieved around 57mpg on this journey.

Sharyn stewartHi,
Has anyone got an advanced payment grant for the Sportage 1.6 S line my advanced payment is £2,499 and just wondering if I would be able to get help with this?
October 18, 2022 at 10:01 pm #198537@Sharyn stewart I think the usual way to get a grant is to approach Motability’s grant team first.
I’d still recommend you try, but they will either not help as you’ve already got an order placed, or if they do offer help, they will most likely give you a list of cars to try out/choose from.
If you can show that your income has dramatically changed since you placed the order, that might help. The reason being, they may think – if you could afford it when you ordered, why do you need help now?

With the ‘2’ trim level Sportage being available with an AP of 999, I’m not sure that the grants team would look on any application favourably.

GraemeWell after following this thread of behalf of my dad for the last few months, my dad got the shock phone call from the local dealer to say that his car had arrived and would be ready on Friday pending getting the hoist he needs fitted on Thursday.
This is despite an email from the dealer saying the below on the 6th October.
Morning Brian,
No build date so far.
We are hoping for some units to arrive before the end of the year though.
Fingers crossed!
Just for everyone’s info he ordered his car on the 4th April with a hoist and was successful in a grant towards the cost of the AP and the hoist.
Car ordered was –
Kia Sportage 1.6 T-GDi GT-Line S Hybrid in Red with black roof
Happy to post pictures up for anyone that wants once received

November 5, 2022 at 10:10 am #199834
AscI received new update from my dealer today..?
Hi S,
I hope you are well.
Just an update on the state of play with your order.
I will share the information that I get when trying to update customers on delivery. For your car it says “Ordered Mar – Oct / delivery window between Dec to Mar 23”. Your order was placed at the end of April so if this is accurate we are looking I think at January / February.
I will update you again in December.
Kind Regards

RizwanThis is the email I have personally received from Kate Mills from Kia UK.
And I have already warned KIA UK and Motability Operations Limited by making official Complaints to CMA (Consumer Markerting Authority) which is part of UK Dept who can carry out full investigations against all UK Car Manufacturers but also against Motability Operations Limited and also against Motability Charity Grants for abusing my own and other Disabled Disability Rights but also all UK Car Manufacturers are taking personal advantage against Disabled Person who are getting new vehicles via Motability Scheme as a Motability Customers firstly removing the current new vehicles of the scheme without informing all Motability Customers and also not offering the same services or offers as a Non Disabled Customers and also Motability Charity Grants only offers the Motability Scheme vehicles they have actually chosen for us and able to get any Motability Charity Grants for the particular vehicle on Motability Scheme as a Registered Disabled Person and also all UK Car Manufacturers actually don’t carry out any full and correct repairs on the vehicle and the same faults occurs again very quickly in few days or even on the same day at the time a Motability Scheme Customers collect their from the car Dealership asked for repair your Motability Scheme vehicle on your behalf your behalf or Motability Operations Limited behalf but charged the Motability Operations Limited in full for the repairs never been fixed correctly the first time.

Dear Mr Patel
Thank you for emailing Paul Philpott, our president & CEO. Paul has asked me to respond on his behalf, I’ll be your point of contact throughout the remainder of your complaint.
As mentioned in our previous emails, our products surge in demand, our ability to deliver them within a desired time frame, in the UK and further afield, is increasingly limited. This issue gets more complicated as certain grades and specifications of each model, even down to colour, are experiencing longer wait times than others. These wait times are becoming almost impossible to predict due to modern manufacturing processes and how lean the parts supply chain is running.
We’ve had confirmation your model is next in line for production, it’s estimated this will start at the beginning of December with an ETA to the UK for the end of December.
Your selling dealership will have the latest information regarding your vehicle, we’d recommend you stay in touch with them.
Kind regards.
