Email from the council this morning, cable gully paid for (£300) and it’s being fitted Nov. 29th.
Rang my HA for an update on permission to have the charger fitted and had to leave a message.
So that leaves the HA and Ohme to get sorted out.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Geat new mate! I’m happy for you the system cogs are finally starting to turn. 🙂
Any news from the Council, when the’ll likely be fitting fitting Kerbo?
November 23, 2023 at 9:11 pm #249816Should be the morning of the 29th, so next Weds 🙂

Great 🙂
I take it you sorted the positioning after it showed to one side.
November 23, 2023 at 10:41 pm #249829Have to have a word with the surveyor on Weds, it has to be as far over as possible to be in the centre of the car.

November 29, 2023 at 9:12 am #250322Council turned up at 8am. I was told late afternoon!
Had a chat with the chap I’ve been emailing, really helpful. I asked about Ohme chargers and as I suspected they’d done most of their KerboCharge installs at properties with them either fitted or being fitted, a few Pod Point but mainly Ohme. He’s going to write me an email and a letter to send to Ohme confirming my install and that it’s 100% suitable.
He also mentioned my HA had been in touch, initially they weren’t too happy about the charger beiing fitted but after talking to him it’s all approved, which would explain their phone call to me last week!. Just waiting for their letter as well now!.
And here it is in all its glory 😀

November 29, 2023 at 9:48 am #250328Pleased for you mate, it all starting to fall in place.
Look forward to your pic later 🙂
November 29, 2023 at 11:17 am #250334What is that @Phaedra ? Is it just a plastic pipe or is it something a bit more fancy?
It’s a big step forwards for the HA by the sounds, well done on getting this far.

November 29, 2023 at 1:08 pm #250346I’m happy that there is finally some decent progress. That looks like an ideal solution for those with a pavement or public access between home and car. Maybe worth mentioning to Motability as a suggestion for expanding their offerings?

November 29, 2023 at 1:18 pm #250348I’ll be sure to mention it to them, as soon as I have the letters from my HA and the council I’ll email copies to Ohme and ask Motability to kick them into action!.
And yes, it’s a plastic gully/channel with a liftable top cover you drop the cable into when you need to charge. There’s a similar one with brushes but my council chap said they wouldn’t approve it for a public footpath as (for example) a high heel could get stuck in it and trip someone.

The biggest issues are, not all LA’s have approved Kerbo yet (Duram & Hove was the initial test area) however, more LA’s are coming onbord. Kerbo do the approval work with the LA and the LA install it. If the LA aren’t offering any contribution or deals towards the payment, prices start from £999. I expect Motability would run a mile or put the onus onto the scheme user, as a non standard install. Those currently requiring a non standard install are being charged more than they should, so I can just imagine the costs involved if they went through a third party to sort it!
Phaedra had a bargain. I expect this is because its a relatively new idea 🙂
November 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm #250351Durham originally wanted £600 for the install but then offered a 50% discount.
I did wonder that if it was part of the Motability package it may be able to be covered by a disability adaptation/facilities grant?

"Come on BYD Seal!"November 29, 2023 at 6:16 pm #250369I must be psychic, just had another email from Kerbocharge asking if they can share my email and photo with Motability. It looks like they’re going to be partnering with them 🙂
I’ve sent them a link to this thread.

November 29, 2023 at 8:56 pm #250379Great idea and like most things imo its continued success in being widely accepted may in part depend on everyones adherence to agreed installation conformity.
I do not know if this is already the case or even if such a thing already exsists but Im just thinking out aloud as I want this to succeed and benefit millions of others
Without conformotity
Poor choice/use/application of material when making good around the finished job may affect its long term ability to remain flush with the surrounding surface.
Being flush to the footpath and remaining so is its safe selling point and thats something that can easily be lost
For instance/example only
A sub-contractors use of mortar to marry to Tarmac imo should be avoided
In a nutshell imo when fitting these things best to do them all in a proper agreed and conformed manner

Disability adaptation/facilities grant?
Cant see why not as its a reasonable request and worth a phone call for sure.
December 4, 2023 at 3:17 pm #250805Just got the letter from Durham Council saying the gully is fitted and fully approved for running a cable via the footpath. Still nothing from the HA yet though.
I’ve added the letter to the Ohme online application and also sent a copy to them by email asking when they will get around to installing the charger!.

That’s great!
I expect Ohme will wait on authorisation from the HA. When did you last chase them on this?
December 4, 2023 at 3:30 pm #250807Last contact I had was a phone call on November 24th, she did say it was taking longer than thought with it being the first one but that it was all OK and permission would be granted.
The chap from the council said he’d also spoken to them and they seemed happy enough to go ahead.

No doub’t the council, has sent the kerbo approval letter to your HA. Perhaps pop it in an email yourself to your HA. and politely ask when your likely receive the approval letter, to enable fitment of the charger!

Expensive for what it is, if you have to bare the cost but, yes a good idea with LA backing 🙂
