I’m due delivery of a new car next week and have arrange a handover time and day with the dealer.

My query is, looking in your online Motability account clicking on “New car application” (assuming you have a new car application) it says “Your application has been approved” and after that it goes on to say “The date the car will be ready will show here when its confirmed by the supplying dealer”. Then follows by saying “We’ll also send you an email to let you know”.

So just out of curiosity has anyone every had such an email from MB or the account saying so.

I’ve always been told by the dealer in the past and never have anything from Motability once the order has been approved but then this is the first with an MB online account.

          My experience too.

When we collected our car at the time agreed with the dealer did all the handover stuff and went on a 50 mile run I still had not reieved anything from Motability. I would have had the car a year next month and upto this day I haven’t recieved anything ?

I guess it based on whether the dealer informs Mb about the collection time and date.

              It seems hit and miss.

Best guess is Motability are happy to leave in the hands of the garage once the order is approved.

Unless there is a special need for motability to get invlved, i.e. any adaptations, or maybe if the Motability customer is vulnerable, they are happy to leave the process alone.

Again, usually it down to cost. Motability will work with the minimum of staff levels to provide a service.

But as we have seen with COVID, they must have increased the staffing levels to deal with the refund process for insurance and Good Condition Bonus.

Update to my question and yes Motability have sent me an email about when the car is ready to collect.

I’m away from home from today until Friday so was collecting the car this Saturday morning however the dealer rang me today asking if I’d mind collecting the car this Friday and we agreed I could be back home to collect Friday afternoon so that’s it.

Low and behold 5 minutes after the dealer rang Motability sent me an email saying “We’re pleased to let you know that your Volkswagen Tiguan is almost ready to collect from Volkswagen Bristol. If you haven’t already, please contact your dealer to arrange a suitable date for collection“ then it goes on to give the collection date but not a time.

Just out of interest for those waiting for Tiguan’s if I collected Saturday it would have been 500 day’s to the day from the day I ordered however as I’m collecting Friday its only been 499 day’s. ?
