I think many in UK would like the choice to be able to buy or lease on motability Japanese KEI cars as they have really small turbo engines and great reliability but alas they are not importing them.

This Automatic would be a blast in UK.
February 7, 2025 at 11:45 am #297261Is the UK and EU going to let us still buy petrol cars and stop the stupid penalties that fine the manufactures or some could say blackmail them into EV cars and give us real choice in UK. As Manufacturers are really being forced into stopping production of petrol’s even though some maybe better for environment than toxic EV batteries. Here is a great sporty car from Toyota the Yaris GR Sport 1.6 semi Auto turbo this would be a great car for many to buy or on motability as now there is hardly any small sporty car choice in UK or the EU.
February 7, 2025 at 12:44 pm #297262You’ve got another 5 years buying new petrol cars and after that you’ll be able to buy second hand ICE vehicles. There are some ‘fun’ EVs out there though & I imagine a lot more to come.
It’s interesting looking back at other historical driving legislation that people opposed in defiance of better health or safety; banning drink driving, helmets for motor cyclists, mandatory seatbelts, child seat safety rules, driving while texting etc.
I imagine that a lot of oil & petrochemical lobby funding will be going to the anti climate change groups in an attempt to slow down the transition to non fossil fuels. Embrace change, it keeps you young.
blah, blah, blah
February 7, 2025 at 1:32 pm #297265I’m with the OP on this one. You can stick your EV’s for now – at least until the charging infrastructure in the UK comes anywhere close to ‘adequate’.
We’ll never get them, but as regards Kei cars, this Honda S660 would do me just fine…

And as for the Kei Camper, yes please!

February 7, 2025 at 3:36 pm #297269Same here!
What about another Honda Kei car, the N-One RS!
February 7, 2025 at 4:01 pm #297271The mini motor camper would be good and as Tesla sales have gone right down not just due to being an EV but political fallout over the big orange baby support.
February 7, 2025 at 4:25 pm #297272Matt imported his own Honda S660 not long ago & did a highly entertaining video on it…

He also did a great video on how cars have got a lot fatter comparing a BMW E46 M3 to the current model which has ballooned in size, like most cars.
Geoff Buys Cars also did a great video this week on how the 4 Door Suzuki Jimny sold out 3 years production in 4 days. He said car makers are missing a trick and 100% they are. He touched upon a Suzuki Hustler kei car in the same video, which really looks like a funky wonderful car
The likes of the Fiesta and Audi A1 have been discontinued. Madness when you think about parking challenges and navigating tight spaces when cars parked on both sides of the road.
