      Hello All,

My vehicle renewal is due in about 6 months time or so and I’m just looking around for my next vehicle in order to make sure I have my finances in order. Of course I realise the APs will be changing but I just want prices for now so I know what to expect.

I am having trouble trying to get prices online from BMW, most just point me to the motability PDF or website which is just a price list. What I want however is the price of the AP which also includes some of my optional extras! If there is anyone on here from BMW that can possibly help.

I am looking at the BMW 3 series saloon 320i sport and also the BMW 2 series gran coupe M Sport 218i

I want prices of both with the following equipment.

      Leather Heated Seats

      Electric Adjustable Seats

      Digital Cockpit

      Automatic Folding Mirrors

      Apple CarPlay

      Wireless Charging

Anyone that can help me get a price for this would be greatly appreciated!

the GC has all that as standard, except electric seats, same as the 3. Once you start adding packs its gets expensive, and you may be better off looking at something all inclusive like the CLA premium Plus. don’t forget to deduct a decent BMW discount of £500 and GCB of £600.

Can you get the 3 series touring with a digital dash .? From what I can see the sport only comes with analogue anyone know

Thank you Lord Muc, I assumed what you just said but wasn’t too sure. I’m just trying to get the best deal for my £££s and I realise the 3 series is a more powerful car than the gran coupe but if I can get the gran coupe for half the price of the 3 series with all the extras mention then that’s a win for me!

I currently drive a 2 series coupe so the gran coupe is still a very different car with the new look and the front wheel drive.

Shisha, the gc, and the 3 are very different cars, although the gc, appears to be a smaller 3, and it is very well equipped, in the M sport variant, it is an entry model. The 3 is in a different league, you have to sit in both, and test drive, to appreciate the difference in build and finish. Which it why the 3 is much more expensive. No complaints about the GC here, and its fantastic value, and a joy to look at and drive.

Lord Muc, you’re right the 3 series is in a completely differently league, my thinking was just more in the features and comfort area for the price. Also I have now just a added a new car to the mix the X2 XDrive!

X2 nice, but dated tech and dash, if that’s a wish, good choice if you need a small suv, with x drive, but others are out there now like the Q3, just got rid of an X1 msport. there should be some bargains coming up. keep an eye on marshalls dealers,  were doing zero AP on selected models.

Shisha – so that you are clear, you have to pay the full list price of any optional extras (less any discount you can negotiate) on top of the AP. This is between you and the supplying dealer, and nothing to do with Motability. You do not get a revised AP based upon which options you add in the way that other lease companies do. As far as I know, the 3 Series has everything that you are looking for as standard, other than fully electric seats with memory and wireless charging. Westerly BMW (and possibly others) are offering £500 off AP’s until 31/3/21 (likely to extend as they have done it for a few quarters). Personally, I don’t factor in the good condition bonus as a discount in the way that some do. You get that regardless, even if you leave the scheme and fund a car privately, so it’s a red herring IMO. Having driven hundreds of different cars of all makes, models and values, the 3 Series is the best car on the Motability scheme at present IMO. I intend to look at the 320i Touring in Q1 if it is still available, but fear that my wife may struggle with access in which case we will have to settle for something less!

Southamman. The vehicle is for my wife who has a disability and I’m the driver, she has 2 main things she needs from a vehicle, a low lip when getting into the door as she struggles lifting her leg up too high, and enough boot space for a wheelchair, as long as these 2 factors are okay she leaves the decision to me and a BMW is really just a personal preference. I’ve had 2 BMWs prior to joining the scheme and decided to get a 2 series coupe as my first motability vehicle. I actually did have a 2006 BMW 3 series prior to the scheme which I loved!

Glos Guy. Yes I realise extras need to be paid upfront, my only reason for asking the question is that with extras some cars have certain ones as standard and other don’t. This obviously makes all the differences in many cases.

When I was looking, the 3 does not come in M sport trim on the scheme, so the dash is not a true digital, some prefer it, and the info screen was the smaller one, 8 inch, I think, this may have changed for 2021, but check, if its a strong wish. Can’t fault the 10 inch screen or idrive 7. On the gc.

The dash on the 320i Sport is similar to the semi-digital one you probably have on your 2 series coupé. So when the engine is off, it’s kind of like a blank screen, then when on it’s a digital representation of an analogue dial. You just can’t customise like you can on the full digital one. Although the BMW does get criticised for the full digital when compared to the offering from Audi or Mercedes. I was almost dead set on ordering the CLA premium plus shooting brake, but after looking at the spec on the 320i sport combined with the extra power, I’m thinking of going for that, and trying to wangle £500 off the ap…

Matt, yeah, the digital dash is a bit crap, compared to others, no wow factor really.

Looks like the 3 series is now gone! I’ll need to consider my options again closer to the time.

318i Sport Touring remains – but that’s it.
