ZubzSo…i picked my car up today, 6 hours later i was involved in an accident, fault was mine, no other person involved except me, i am a named driver for my father who’s name the mobilty policy is on.
waited a year for this car and…i am ashamed and im gutted this has happened..

Had the car taken by RAC just now, i will ring RSA on monday as they are closed on weekend.
What are the repercussions now?
If the car is written off, do i have to do a new application and pay a upfront cost again?
if its repaired, is it still classed as acceptable when returning it 3 years later?
Can mobility say they wont insure me again as the fault was mine? thus ending the mobility scheme alltogether?

Doesn’t look like a write off to me.
July 22, 2023 at 9:25 pm #227663Accidents happen, It wont have any effect, you are still insured, even if it is your fault.
Don’t overthink it. Let due process play out, contact motability, they will tell you what you need to do.
When its repaired it will be as good as new and no effect on handback
.
It doesnt look too bad, more than likely it will be repaired, you should get a loaner until its repaired.

KhalidAccidents happen, should be no problem with insurance etc but without mentioning anything on here I hope all of the motability criteria was being followed nudge nudge wink wink say no more.

Zubzthanks guys for putting my mind at ease at least,
yes all mobility criteria is followed, i am the only driver for the car and i actually was going household shopping for my father.
July 23, 2023 at 1:25 pm #227704Same thing happened to me although car was one month old. If the airbags went off there is a fair chance it will be written off, otherwise it should be repairable. Either way all will be fine. In my case the car was written off, once that was done my old lease very quickly closed down and I could apply for a new vehicle with a new lease (one year rule applies as usual). You will get any advanced payment back pro rata and again this is re-paid very quickly. Downside is that if the car is written off you will NOT get a refund for any extra’s you paid for, that money is lost. I cannot speak highly enough of RSA and Motability with the way they dealt with the situation. I picked up a new car two months after the other one was written off.

ZubzThis Swwchris, that was helpful, the only “mod” i paid was the colour and i had to because this was all they had in stick (had a big drama with vauxhall and i ended up cancelling with them cause ford had the puma ready to drive off so i had no choice to pay that”
Airbags never went off, so hoping its not a write off and its repairable, but at least i know if it does get written off that the policy ends, i get back advanc payment pro rata and i could apply again, hopefully a different ford garage this time.

ZubzSwwchris, did you get payment contribution from mobility back or was that used up

ChrisPembsglad you are OK and hope a valuable lesson is learned, good luck with it all đ
July 26, 2023 at 6:41 pm #228120Swwchris, did you get payment contribution from mobility back or was that used up
The advanced payment refund included the payment contribution from Motability
Because I did not have a hire car, taxi etc I am due all payments back for the period between the car being written of and collecting the new car. Unfortunately HMRC are 8 weeks behind with sorting the refund. Obviously if I took a hire car I would not get any PIP money back

DonnaHi guys need some advice plz had a car accident back in April 23 I swirved to avoid a car over taking me and hit a parked van my fault,my car was deemed a ride off at the beginning rsa were great I had a hire car within 3 weeks but on the 3rd July I got a phone call to say that the hire car was being returned and I would be left without a car to say my anxiety has been threw the roof is an understatement.i was told by rsa that the new car that I’ve had on order for over a year was put on hold and that the accident was under investigation due to the people in the van putting claims in against me well the man who was in the drivers seat of the van was stating that he was 29 years old which he was most defo not he was in his late 50s early 60s.so the investigator came out yo my home and took the statement and I also attended the place were the accident happened and went threw with him excally what happened.he was very happy with the statement that I have and said that he was putting in a recommendation that i remained in my mobility car I have no problem at all with the investigation taking place it’s there job to do this but lack of communication and the fact that I’ve been left with no car for 3 weeks now with not knowing how much longer I’ll be with out a car is really effecting my mental health I’ve gone from mobility telling me that it’s rsa that have a blick on the new car to rsa telling me that mobility are the ones that have the block.on the new car and forward and back forward and back for weeks then i receive a letter from rsa stating that after my complaint they have come to realise that the level of customer service I have received from them falls under their standards and they offered me ÂŁ100 compensation I have sought legal advice off my solicitor who has tried to contact mobility threw email 4 times to which they have had no reply has any one else had an accident were it’s gone to investigation who can advise me on how long this process takes? I am now worried that they are going to come back to me and say that I’m.not getting my new car which is now sitting in the show room.waiting to be collected plz help
August 22, 2023 at 8:52 pm #230773I know this does not help, I have dashcams front and rear, about 2 months ago a young mother bumped into the back of my car when I was stationary at some traffic light. RSA requested a copy of the dashcam footage and sent a link across.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
August 22, 2023 at 9:35 pm #230777Not had an accident where the car was a write off. Do you have a copy of the investigators statement or can you request a FOI or ask your solictor to do it for you? I havelong had the opinion that what you are told to your face is quite different to whats actually put on the report!
I hope I’m barking up the wrong tree when I say, I spoke to RSA 10days ago as someone had reveresed into my car on a car park and caused minor damage whils’t I was in the shop along with another question I won’t go into as it strays from the point. In my opinion RSA couldn’t care less and was eager to tell me the car wouldn’t need repairing nor would it affect my GCB and that I would receive a letter which I haven’t. After getting off the phone I spoke to Motability again and told them RSA wern’t eager to answer my question or were they interested with the minor damage and pecifically said aren’t they interested because were moving to Direct Line insurance next month. The reply I got from the lady at Motability was I wouldn’t like to think so because they are still are insurer. I’ll leave you to make your own opinion!
Motability do not like replying to emails as it leaves a paper trail however one would like to think it is their duty to reply to a solicitor within 28 days. Perhaps your solictor should write rather than email and maybe to the CEO!
However where your case is concerned there’s not alot anyone can say, as it is in the solictors hands, which is the best place by the sounds of it. You could also speak to your MP but, unlikely they will get involved if you a solictor.
In the meantime have you had the mobilty /PIP payments reinstated given you are now without a hire car.
I hope it gets sorted for you đ

ColinMy motability car had a minor bump on a car park when someone hit it and drove off. RSA have been rubbish, still not repaired since March 2023 and every excuse under the sun. Motability have been no better. Tried to speak to a manager and they refuse to speak. Really disappointing service on all levels. Motability customer care really none existent. Will really think about renewing. Anyone know how to make a formal complaint beyond customer services who promise call backs that have not happened?
October 8, 2023 at 10:18 am #237039It’s on the website, phone, letter or if not happy Financial Ombudsman.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
