So after a lot of test drives of most of the large ev’s I bit the bullet and spent 3k over budget and got the ioniq 5, from finding car (not being picky on colour) to picking up was one week.

I have to say why over what ever I would consider spending I have been lucky enough to have a few extended test drives and the ioniq 5 seems to be the best at reporting real world range. Also very very comfortable and loads of room, I love the fact you can adjust the boot space, I had one of the best dealer experiences and even got £500 off (Richmond Hyundai Guildford they said I am allowed to mention it) ask for bazz when I arrived they treated me as one of the team and I was made to feel just as important as any of their customers.

had the car over 2 weeks now and still love it

Given most I5 colours are grey tones, they make it easy not to be too fussy.

It’s a lovely car and the 800v thing will be useful as soon as you charge away from home.

I’m still bouncing between the Ultimate and the Ariya evolve in Aurora Green.

Well done Rico, excellent choice and so good to see how much you are enjoying it. I have a test drive of the Ionic 5 next Thursday having already tried the Kia EV6 and Enyaq i80. At the moment I find myself flitting between the Enyaq Coupe, Kia EV6 AWD, Hyundai Ionic 5 Ultimate and  bringing up the rear Nissan Ariya.

Of course after choosing the vehicle it will be colour choice!

Still its reassuring to know that Motability are giving us such an excellent choice of first class EVs and hopefully with even more choice as time goes by. I can order in late August but thinking of taking a chance and hanging on to see if they add the Ionic 5 AWD in October.

Let us know what model you have Rico and continue enjoying your new EV ?

So back to give a update, for some questions and after covering 1000 miles with holiday trip and various normal tedious hospital trips..

Very nice, which trim did you opt for ?

Ultimate because the extras for 500 more on the ultimate over premium are worth it (surround view, bose system, HUD, and the nifty in dash blind spot cameras that pop up when you indicate and show the side view looking back of that side)

its a complete joy tbh in the ioniq, so comfortable  has loads of legroom and you get with the car, type 2 cable as normal, 3 pin 10A domestic plug charger and the V2L adaptor (that turns your type 2 port into a 3 pin plug (I have seen a DJ in a field running decks, speakers and amps from his car from this adaptor)

may I ask what the wait times are. if I get my PIP renewal confirmed, its either an EV6, Nissan Aryia or the ioniq5 I will get

my ioniq 5 took from deciesion to driving away one week so I dont know how long the wait times are, if you do decide on one and want it quicker, be prepaired to travel and ring round, but hurry on this as you have a limited time (say until end middle of sept) when car sales lul slows down. (summer holidays is quitest time for dealers as most people are more thinking about holidays than buying a car) so dealers are more willing to let in stock cars go to us.

Does the Ultimate get those reclining front seats to relax after you have made yourself a cuppa from the V2L adaptor or rear socket lol.

I followed one yesterday on French plates for around 150 miles and must admit it grew on me, although I couldn’t figure out why they were driving exactly 10mph below whatever speed limit the road commanded – wierd lol.

                    Anyway enjoy 🙂

Nice one @Rico. It is a great looking car with performance to match I am sure.

Personally, I would be saving up for a public charge on a 350kW rapid to see the amazing charge speeds!

thats part of the tech pack (only standard on the nasman edition) which includes

Remote Smart Park Assist, Parking Collision Avoidance Assist – Reverse, Front Relaxation Seats, Driver Memory Seats, Auto Flush Door Handles) for a extra £900 (smart park assist is forwards and backwards out of a space using car key fob).
