How has the pandemic affected you mentally?

I consider myself a fairly average type of person and I try to take life as it comes but this past year has been a challenge. Even though me and Mrs Brydo have a limited life we have really missed our day’s out, a wee visit out to get a cup of tea or to see our daughters and grandchildren. And too be honest I am climbing the walls just now and the wife is really suffering mentally.

Who would have thought we would have ever had to come through something like this. Never in my wildest thoughts would I have imagined something like this happening to us.

Hopefully we are able to get out soon even though there will still be risk.
life must be worth living and being stuck in a house 24/7 isn’t living IMO.

I have to agree with your sentiments Brydo. I/we miss our weekend breaks so much. Just the change of routine and change of scenery will work wonders for mental health.

Yes this has probably affected me in ways I haven’t even acknowledged yet. After watching my partner contract this virus in hospital & then slowly and horrifically lose his life to it, yes it’s affected me. My life will never be the life it once was.

So sorry to hear that Lou, losing the person you love is the most difficult thing in life to cope with and recover from.

People say “time heals everything” but in my experience the time it takes to heal makes the saying irrelevant.

I hope you are keeping well and please look after yourself.

Thankyou for your kind words Brydo, that’s exactly it….so many people say “times a healer” or “after the first year…” but (although it’s not been a year) it still feels as raw as the day it happened.

I won’t be able to enjoy all the things we used to, I have no “looking forward” to do anymore & this last lockdown Iv had to face without my partner.

I am trying to keep as well as I can although my health isn’t too great and Iv been really struggling with my conditions the last couple of days. This pandemic will affect everyone in different ways but losing someone so close to you from that disease makes things just different if that makes sense.

I do hope everyone is getting on alright tho 🙂

Mentally I’m probably still OK as I never seem to have any time to think anyway.

Physically I’m a real mess, not being able to “walk, run, or cycle” for exercise has meant I’ve lost a lot of the muscle tone needed to push the wheelchair & it’ll be back to practicing on the flat wheras I live in a very hilly town, hence I need to get myself down the coast & push myself along the promenade. Maybe when we can travel for exercise again I’ll feel better pretty quickly.

Interestingly my parents haven’t had their vaccinations yet, they’re in their 80s & can’t get to vaccination centres & I can’t take them as they’re 250 miles away. I’ve not been called for vaccination myself either.

you and the Mrs get out and about brydo I don’t know anybody who has stuck to the rules. Nobody would stop me from seeing my kids and grandkids. As you said life is for living.
