PRESS RELEASE 01/04/2021
Motability is going “All Electric” in 2022.
Spokesperson Pirla Folo said in a press briefing released today “Everyone is aware of the Government’s ambitions for a cleaner and greener United Kingdom and not only does Motability share these ambitions, we want to be at its core as the leader in new car procurement. From 2022 we will only offer our members pure electric vehicles and we will, from this summer begin the phasing out of all ICE and Hybrid models. Our ambition is to have an all electric fleet by 2026. Electric cars not only offer a greener solution but are more durable and reliable than their ICE counterparts. Therefore I am very excited to announce that we will be able to more than double the length of our leases to 7 years. This will allow us to offer greater value to our members whilst at the same time streamlining our operations. We know from our members that they find the process of choosing a new car both stressful and time consuming so we know this announcement will be widely welcomed by almost all members, except the small number who seem to insist on numerous test drives and then procrastinate for weeks about colours and options, needlessly calling and emailing prior to placing an order which is upsetting for our hard working dealer network and therefore to assist them, from 2022, coinciding with these change, members will be allowed a maximum of two 15 minute accompanied test drives, redeemable by coupon, which we believe will be and should be more than sufficient in the selection process especially as we only expect to be offering no more than maybe 15 or perhaps 20 different models and to further streamline our operations all will be offered in standard trim without the prospect of specifying any optional extras and will be supplied in solid colours only. This will help to drive down costs allowing us to offer the most fantastic value to our members. Full details of these exciting developments might be announced tomorrow, April 2nd, or perhaps not.
