Help with Hypervolt Pro3 charger

Hi All, I’ve used my tethered Hypervolt Pro3 home charger 5 times and it’s been great.
Up until now, when I’ve finished charging I unplug from car and wind up cable and insert plug into charger, then I press lock on my phone in the app. The plug is locked into charger and when charging next time, I have to press unlock on my phone before I can remove from charger and plug into car.

This last charge went well but on returning my plug to charger I cannot get it to lock, meaning anybody could unwind it and plug into their car.

I phoned Hypervolt technical today and was told there isn’t a locking feature for plug. However, when you lock on the app you are stopping the charger from giving electric until you press unlock, so nobody can steal electric.

I explained that since new the plug was physically locked into charger, I was told that is not possible as the charger doesn’t have that feature.

I’m confused, so thought I’d reach out to other users.

      Regards, wonky

Hypervolt home pro 3 should have the lock feature, it’s in the user guide!

        Secure Locking Mode
Locking your Hypervolt Home 3 Pro charger is essential if you want to override any existing configurations and prevent it from accidentally charging. All you need to lock the device is to tap the Lock icon on the homescreen. This icon will allow you to toggle its locked and unlocked status at any time. The LED indicator on the charger will change to orange when the device is locked. However, please take note that trying to lock the charger while there is an active charging session will only work after the session has ended and the EV has been unplugged.

Is wifi connected at the charger?

Either restart the charger by turning the power off for 10 mins and back on or reconnect to wifi.

            Hi Kezo,  thanks for reply.

The link you sent is in line with what technical told me. That is , no electric can flow whilst in locked mode. I’m not disputing that. My charging plug, when returned to charger I cannot, was physically locked into place when I activated lock in the app. It has stopped doing this.

Random people unwinding your cable to plug in doesn’t really happen does it? Or is it a thing where you live 🤔  Besides if they do it won’t charge anyway 🤞

Are you sure it was physically locked into the charger if their technicians are telling you this feature isn’t available?

Hi, thanks Kezo, could you explain what you mean, I’m not very technical.

Hi Rhodgie, times are hard and someone knowing there was 7p electric available could be tempted.

Youare right, the locking feature available immobilises the unit. However, if one feature has failed whose to say this safety feature cannot.

The point is, a physical lock was present and now it isn’t.

Does anyone else have this charger?

                  Regards, wonky

Turn the charger off at the consumer unit that was fitted at the time of install and turn it back in say 5 minutes – the charger will reboot hopefully fixing the issue.

                      @Wonky did you sort it?

Also if at anytime its gone offline, it will remain in the unlocked mode, so follow the link, as the charger can suffer connectivity issues depending how stron the wifi is.

Another commonish problem/s that happened on the 2 is, if you haven’t used the charger for 7 days or more, you can’t un-lock or the lock feature stops working untill the charger is reset.

Hi Kezo, still the same . I turned off charger for 30 mins and back on, still nothing.

I do go 2-3 weeks between charges.

In the past that didn’t matter, the plug was always locked in and coyote removed until I pressed unlock on my phone.

                        Thanks for your help.

                        Regards, wonky
