I was wondering if any of you regretted the choice of vehicle after having it for a while. If you did, could you do anything about it and if so what did you do? I have been fortunate throughout my time with Motability, all my cars have been good as gold, although the Chevrolet Orlando was a very thirsty car at the time. The only time I had to call RAC out was when by son accidentally put the wrong fuel in, so as I say, I have had no problems.

Of six cars only regret was X1 which had a transmission fault making the car unpredictable and unsafe to drive. Motability agreed to an early termination.

I had a Vauxhall Zafira that was quite nice but my back deteriorated after surgery and I couldn’t drive manual anymore, Motability were really good and let us change after having it for just 3 months.
Because we needed to change quickly we basically went with the quickest turnaround we could get which was our current Nissan Juke with the awful CVT, I still kind of like the quirky styling but it’s such an awful drive I can’t wait to get rid of it. Three years is up in September but it’s looking like we’re stuck with it until November thanks to SEAT delays.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

July 24, 2019 at 12:01 am #83422My first car on the scheme was a Mini Metro 1.3 Auto. That was over 30 years ago and I still get a sickly feeling when I think about that Pile of garbage !!

Marina BrianNot so much regret the car as regret the AP. Paid £3.5K on PHEV only for the month after delivery for it to drop to £2k. GUTTED! and VERY ANNOYED!
July 24, 2019 at 10:34 am #83459not exactly a regret more my condition changed i slipped a disc and its pressing on the sciatic nerve so really i could do with a car easier to get in and out of as current car is 3dr mini cooper auto 7. but ive had a spinal injection and 3 months of physio and i am managing got just over ayear to go so i may get through.
motability have said i can change early if it gets too bad. its a shame as i do like the car.
replacements being considered are the bmw i3 if can get the ap together or the mini countryman as depending on the model it could be 0 ap as i am wpms so in that sense i am lucky ive got a bit more wiggle room.
mind i do like the jeeps and the seat ateca or arona but part of me wants to wait for the suzuki jimny lol.

AnonymousWe love the car we have now, only regret is the ridiculous MPG @24mpg and has most of our driving is around town or short journeys, I can’t see it getting any better! 🙁

TosherWe had a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Executive+ for the last 4 1/2 years. Love the car apart from the column gears (not sure of the technical terms other than a mechanical advising me that it was a single plate clutch), the pause when attempting to pull out at roundabouts is freightening?

DanteI’ve had to change in the past due to changes in my disability – comfort & pain levels. The current car I like – Skoda karoq – despite worse than expected mpg but now I’m finding it harder get get comfortable and additional nerve issues – I can’t find the right position to make myself comfy – so any out of town journeys becoming uncomfortable & painful.
my biggest issue has been finding good Motability ‘specialists’ tbh
July 24, 2019 at 12:20 pm #83503Not a regret as such but we got a Vauxhall Zafira around 2010, it was practical and in Elite trim well equipped for what it was but was very lifeless to drive.
It was also a diesel as the car industry were pushing them heavily at the time and the AP on the petrol was much higher, we often ended up driving around aimlessly just to allow the DPF regen to complete – in retrospect it was the wrong fuel choice for our usage but at the time I don’t think the whole DPF vs city driving thing was very well understood and would never go back to diesel again.
So over all whilst there was nothing wrong and it did everything we needed it just felt more like a tool for a job rather than something to actually enjoy, and to be honest put me off the whole MPV / SUV thing – for what we need and want an estate car is the better option and probably the nicer drive.
July 24, 2019 at 4:14 pm #83521I regret not having Keyless I can’t move my fingers and so fumble for my key in pocket keyless will be so much better on my next car !
July 24, 2019 at 8:26 pm #83541Not a regret but a change in my situation, had to swap from a V40 crossover to a Leon ST, Motability were great about it.

BaljitMy biggest regret BMW X1 Tiguan not available. Camera adaptive cruise control no good sunlight hits camera and it will stop working equally with rain at times not happy and will stop. Also had a fault from day one do a tight right turn traction warning light comes on and loss of power. Have tried various fixes but none the wiser what causing it. So live with just means when sometimes on roundabout loss of power so got in habit just release steering wheel and should be able to accelerate. Could have gone back to motability but nothing on there at time or excessive AP . Now a selection of Tiguan’s so will just wait till next year.
