      Hi Guys,

I’m due to pick up my new car soon and it is my first motability/brand new car. I was wondering what happens at Handover and how long the entire process takes.

      Thanks in advance!

        Hi Whitney

Allow at least an hour for paperwork and also some time if you need them to show you how things work.

I’m the sort who likes to learn about a cars working at home sat on the drive and anything I don’t understand I refer to the manual.

So with that in mind I just want to get out of the showroom as soon as possible though I might ask a question if there’s something I need to know before I get home, for instance, how you unlock and open the fuel cap.

One other thing that can add time and worth taking time with, with the way thing are in the car industry at this moment in time and that’s to check all the things that should be in the car that were there when you ordered the car because some manufactures are taking things out without any notification to the customer. So if the car specification said for instance it had heated seats at the time of ordering make sure it does have them when you collect and anything else that’s important too you as some things might be trivial and you don’t mind its not in the car.

If memory serves my last change over was a bit over an hour because the adaption installer had to set up my scooter with the hoist I had installed.

It should be a good experience for you so have a great time with your new car.

          Hello @Whitney.

An hour is about right as ChrisK has said. My dealer has always been thorough on the handover to make sure I knew the main functions of the car.  There is a lot to take in so your dealer should be on hand to explain anything ou may have missed on the handover.

The most important thing to remember is not to put your Motability Pin Number in until you are happy with the car.

Enjoy your first Motability Car and happy driving.  Hopefully I will be getting mine at the end of March.
