So ordered the Grandland early January a Black ultimate 1.2 8 speed auto. The dealer contacted to me to say the car would be delayed, but a cancellation for a red one with the same spec would arrive sooner. So I said yeah red is ok however I have noticed on my motability online account the car is shown as a 1.2 hybrid e-DCT 6.. so should I raise this as an issue or accept the ‘upgraded’ car

It will be the same as Peugeot’s new Dual clutch setup
The e-DCS6 (Dual Clutch System) gearbox.
The PEUGEOT 48V Hybrid engine includes a new electrified 6-speed dual clutch gearbox without torque break specially designed for hybrid systems. The gearbox housing also houses the electric engine, the inverter and the ECU, which optimises the size and weight of the vehicle and guarantees excellent driving performance.March 19, 2024 at 9:44 pm #268831Have you to pay a higher AP for the one you are getting as I see the one you ordered in January is no longer available to order.
March 20, 2024 at 9:09 pm #268899The AP is exactly the same the new car payment of 750 covered most of it only £349 to pay, although it’s not the car I originally ordered I am coming round to the idea of a hybrid
March 20, 2024 at 9:39 pm #268901I would just take the hybrid more mpg.
March 20, 2024 at 11:04 pm #268905The 48v hybrid would be more efficient as Robert says
Vauxhall says the mild-hybrid Grandland can return up to 51.4mpg compared to 44.1mpg for the automatic petrol only model.
The six-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated electric motor provides an extra 28bhp and 55Nm of torque.
It would be a no brainer IMO 🙂
March 21, 2024 at 11:54 am #268926yeah more mpg is always a win and the hybrid system looks quite cool, now just to deal with the anti EV/hybrid relatives lol
March 21, 2024 at 12:19 pm #268929Its a 48v mild hybrid, therefore the tiny electric motor will act mainly as a starter generator and assist with accelerating for better fuel economy.
You can tell your relatives the 48V badge stuck to the reasr or side of the cars refers to the number of valves the engine has ?
March 22, 2024 at 3:41 pm #269040The car is at the dealers so the guy delivered on his pick a red one and have it end of March comment
March 22, 2024 at 4:00 pm #269041Hope you enjoy it! Not long to wait now 🙂
October 18, 2024 at 8:49 pm #291289I ordered a 1.2 petrol automatic back in February and was told it would be delivered in July.
On the 5th of July I went to pick up my car only to be told that the 1.2 petrol is no longer available.
My dealer told my to try it and see how I got on with it.
I Hate it, brakes are too sharp make a horrible whining noise like an old mcw bus , there’s no way to turn off the regenerative braking,
I contacted motability who put me through to the dealer, who told me to take it to him and he would try to see what the problem was.
After he’d driven it he said it was me and I should learn to drive properly, bearing in mind I’ve been driving 30 years.
My autistic daughter won’t travel in it as she doesn’t like the noise it makes and she has acute hearing.
If I was to contact motability again do you think they could change it ?
October 18, 2024 at 10:55 pm #291296You can speak to motability they’ll probably let you cancel and order again esp if it wasn’t what you ordered but you’ll need to remember hybrid and Electric I’d the future and the whining noise is a programmed noise to alert pedestrians you’re there. I can’t even hear it unless the windows open on my enyaq I haven’t heard the Vauxhall so it could be really loud.
Fact of the matter is it’s it’s not suitable then it has to go but bearing in mind all new cars are going to be similar now, brakes feel different, different noises etc so there will be some element of change bit I’m sure you can find something to suit.
Start with motability explain the whole story and take it from there good luck
October 19, 2024 at 7:08 am #291308Thanks for the advice, I’ll contact motability this morning.
I’ve just looked on the motability website and now the original grandland ultimate auto is back
I don’t really want to change to another make as I like the size of the car.
This was going to be my last car that I drive because of the change in the car industry and I don’t think that hybrid/electric cars are safe.
we also have a tourneo 8 seater diesel on motability that is for my disabled sons which is up for renewal soon and there currently isn’t any diesel auto’s available
We privately rent our property and my landlord doesn’t want a charging box installed on the property, and the nearest charge point is 2 miles away.
October 19, 2024 at 11:32 am #291335Absolutely nothing wrong with electric cars you’re far more likely to be hurt by the plastic fuel tank leaking or bursting in an ice car.
We’re already seeing alternate battery chemistries now too and probably only a few years away from batteries that can’t catch fire.
If you genuinely want to be educated on this stuff vs the BS you read in the media watch the Stop burning stuff campaign on Fully Charged.
Just FYI there have been 500 EV fire globally since 2010 making odds of the one anyone’s in 0.0012%
Hybrids are 115x more likely to catch fire than an EV
You’re landlords a fool then he gets a free charger installed on his property that adds to rentability in the future. Has he even been approached seeing as you’re not interested in electric I’d be surprised you’d even asked them put to most landlords carefully they’re usually very OK with it. Won’t be long before EV charger is on the same list as fast broadband when looking for a home. I suspect it won’t be long that if someone wants a charger landlord’s won’t be allowed to say no
My enyaq I do charge at home but I can fully recharge it at a rapid charger in 20 minutes if I’m going further than the 320 mile range. Without a charger theres still granny chargers to top one up no landlord permission required obv it’s slow but it works.
