Good Condition payment

      Hi all

I’ve just had a call with motability re the Good condition payment for the car I’ve handed back after 59 months  , yes a few weeks short of five years .  Since I ordered the car back in 2020 I was expecting  £550 back or something near that as it’s going back now instead of February.   I got an email saying I’m only getting £350.  Apparently there’s a pro- rata policy in this regard that’s not available for us to see on the website :

      3year (37-47mths) £250

      4year (48-59) £350

      5year ( 60-71) £550

      6year (72) £750

So i’ve missed out on £200 by picking my car up now rather than leaving it until the new year .  Hopefully this will help others not fall into this trap and the “Policy is policy”   stance Motability are taking.

The same happened to me. The Kia dealership was wanting a end of month delivery, I explained I would lose out £200 early Good condition bonus for not having a full 5 years. They got back to me and said they would adjust the invoice and pay it if took early delivery.

Worth seeing if they would do the same.

Thanks @tvs  but i think the horse has already bolted since I’ve been paid the GCP.  When I return my car in three years I’ll remember to leave it until the last possible moment  before I even contemplate looking for another car.  Motability should be more transparent about this pro rata arrangement on their website and the large hit you’ll take returning between the 4th and 5th year. It would be fairer all round to pro rata the payment using monthly rather than yearly increments as they do now but that’s the fat cat motability bosses for you !

You don’t need to do that, you’ll automatically get the GCB after the years 🤷‍♂️

When my new car materialises in around march next year I would have had my existing car for 5 years and 4 months. I know I would get £550 GCB but with this pro rata do I expect to get more than £550?.

Is the 6 year extension only for WAV vehicles?

I made the same mistake back in 2019. Maddening really the car was dead on 4 years and 11 months old so I lost out. on £200
