BrydoThis is probably a once in a life time opportunity. Go electric and save enough money to pay for your next AP, maybe even more.
Depending on the miles you cover in a year going electric could save hundreds of pounds each year, more than enough to pay your next AP in three years time.
Obviously the Government will need to recoup the lost tax revenue on fossil fuels so this saving is likely to end within 3-5 years as a new, yet to be disclosed, tax regime will be introduced to tax EVs.
So if you are due to change soon and any one of the BEVs listed below suits your needs, get on the EV gravy train and ride it for however long it lasts.

There are plenty of forums , Daf, which do nothing but debate climate change. I don’t think this should be one, any more than it should debate religion or politics. We are about cars.

Is that why you brought political goals into the picture in this very thread? Just wondering.
To state the obvious, i very much disagree with your rant there. If someone asks “why would i buy EV”, part of the answer is the environment, the rest is politics. You’re essentially asking to not talk about EVs or why they’re important regardless whether or not you and/or ajn deem them “inconvenient”.
Stop derailing valid threads because you dislike EVs. That’s okay, they’re not for everyone. The vast majority here are over 30 and can think for themselves, i don’t need you to decide what “we” are about.

ajn?wow me, what have I done..?
July 12, 2021 at 5:53 pm #158313
TimI blame AJN for everything that’s been happening these past few weeks. First he makes me remove Porsche from my shortlist, now this! It’s unacceptable behaviour.
July 12, 2021 at 6:00 pm #158316i think getting an ev, for me anyway, is going to be too much effort, worry etc and going to put me off getting another car. its not the fact it runs on electric, although i do have to say i prefer the sound of petrol, but the issues of getting a charger, changing power companies to get a decent deal, finding working charge points that i ca use if on a run etc.. not to mention the fact that up here in winter its damn cold for a long time and your range will be drastically affected.
I will stay i think with petroleum. Im sure my small mileage wont kill planet and all my home energy is green..
and for the govt, most of the greenhouse emissions come from gas boilers in houses. fix that and you dont have to be silly about banning petrol cars.
rant over .lol sorry

July 12, 2021 at 6:32 pm #158322Last comment on this thread from me POPS.
Rene, saying that the move to EVs is politically motivated is fact. It is being driven by parliament passing legislation. That’s hardly debating politics.
And Rene, I challenge you to find anywhere that I have said I dislike EVs, because I don’t.
I don’t rant either, I’m always happy to listen to anyone’s point of view whether I agree with it or not. That’s the way some of us learn stuff.

ajnwell said struth, I believe there’s far worse going on with pollution in the World than me going around minding my own business..
All the protest we have to put up with in this Country by activists gets on my nerves too, we recently had naked cycling through the City Centre, glad I’m out the way of it tbh..
Tim my posts seem to disappear so I’m lucky you got to see the Porsche one I guess..must’ve said something unacceptable I guess ??
July 12, 2021 at 7:01 pm #158329A useful debate in the main, I remember all the changes as a manager I had to oversee. Change presents opportunities and challenges as well as excitement and fear. I hate all the constant windows updates, websites forever changing, supermarkets continually moving goods from one aisle to the next etc, but sometimes we have to try and embrace change, especially when it is inevitable, like phasing out gas boilers and ICE cars. Oh and the loss of the Rexton, many moons ago. Sadly missed.

ajnPointless having a debate without a bit of wigwam thrown in, ever been naked cycling as a protest wig, maybe we could do a charity one… TOGETHER ?

DafWigwam EVs are an integral part of the fight to protect the environment so they are intrinsically linked to Climate change and Pollution. The very raison d’être for their existence, in fact. Or do you have your own ideas as to why they will shortly replace ICE vehicles?
July 12, 2021 at 9:03 pm #158341Daf. You propose a view I do not accept, as if it’s fact. I will happily debate the topic elsewhere.

TimSans doute ?
July 12, 2021 at 10:32 pm #158351
DafWigwam I have done nothing other than re-iterate the views of the majority of Scientists who have identified man made climate change and pollution as a threat to our future . Further I made sure the comments were relevant by linking to the need to replace ICE by EV to help alleviate Climate change and reduce pollution.
As usual you are heavy on critique and lightweight on solution. So that is my truth please tell me yours.
July 12, 2021 at 10:54 pm #158353Not interested Daf. This is not the forum for debate on climate change. I respect your beliefs but am not going to discuss mine here.

BrydoWigwam you are obviously not a man of your word lol.

DafWigwam I am disappointed, I didn’t expect you to go all shrinking violet. I was expecting another of your rather strange right wing conspiracy theories “a la Trump”. Maybe next time.
Brydo thanks for bringing the forum back to life. Keep up the good work.
