If i am allowed to extend my lease am i better to do a 1 or 2 year extention, and can i change it later and order a new car at any time.

I ask as im not sure i will be able to find a new one in near future due to covid etc. So if you say, take a 2 years extention can you in say 4 moths time take a new car and cancel the extention, and are there any financial penalties etc.

Hi, I extended mine for 2 years and then ordered a new car before and there were no charges, I was told by Motability I could change the car at anytime during the extention period, so contact Motability I am sure you will be obliged at the outcome, cheers Michael

I’ve just extended my lease for 2 years. In the extended period you can order a new car at any time.

thanks both.. i wasnt sure if it was allowed. car has very low miles thanks to being locked up here with covid. i paid a decent up front on it and it has a hoist in boot too. way things are going up here, and the lack of availability(for instance i see mitzabushi have removed all models bar one small one due to lack of cars). Sure in 6/8 months things may well be better so thats good you can change when you wish..

Used this last week and had letter back in about 3 days confirming lease extended.

Also I called motab before Xmas and they said because I’d paid a big deposit and will have done less miles that it would just be a formality to extend the lease.

Put in a request to extend last Thursday and expecting a letter but having looked in my online account today I noticed they have extended already so maybe if you have the online account they don’t bother with the post.

No information given about servicing the car unless I do get a letter over the coming days, but I wonder if my suppling dealer gets notified of my extention and gives me a call around September / October for servicing.
