Exceeding first service interval.

I’ve had various issues organising the cars first service. I initially had it booked in 3 weeks before the one year service period (the millage is well under the 10k limit). The dealer had to cancel the service, so it was rebooked a few days after the one year anniversary. However, a medical emergency came up and I had to cancel that service. Now a further date was set for the end of this week and the dealer has again made an error.

I’m aware there is leeway on the millage (11k instead of 10K ) and a month over the time period (13 months instead of a year). However, it’s looking to be month 14 before I can get this over the line.

Is Motability flexible on these situations, or will I need to find a place anywhere in the UK to get this service over the line before 13 months is up ?

Do not worry about it. It will get done when it gets done. AFIK its only the garage thats worried about servicing the car as they make a lot of money from it.

Other members will add to the query as well.

          ?

I think you’ll find that Hyundai won’t honor the warranty if the service intervals are not met. My question is related to how Motability handle a situation like this.

No, that would apply if you bought the car. That is how the manufacturers coerce people into paying for exorbitant service costs. JLR tried that with one of my buddies 5k and a year old and the first service cost £1100. He told them to stuff it. Given that a land rover has a high probability of breaking as you drive off the forecourt. Its a moot point.

Hyundai are not going to void any warranty with their biggest customer. Besides, its not your car, its a lease car, and not your worry.

If you don’t get the car serviced motability will send you a reminder to get it done and say if you don’t you are in breach of contract.

it happened to me. I had the car booked in to be serviced. Took it up to dealer who said that car doesn’t need serviced and removed the service reminder. A few weeks later got the letter from motability to say I hadn’t got the car serviced!! I phoned motability who said it did need serviced and they have authorised it on the system and they would be ringing dealer to tell them that . Car was then serviced!!

So I would just give motability a ring and say service is going to be a bit late but it’s booked in.

Indeed, I just found out my neighbour missed their 1st service and then ignored further reminders due to disability and life issues getting in the way.  Motability took the car back for breach of contract.

The warranty also forms part of the resale value after the lease expires. Motability may have clout, but Hyundai are not going to replace a failed engine for free on a 2 year old car with a missed service schedule.

I have now spoken with them and have a service date arranged.

I always found my Mercedes dealership and servicing fantastic (Mercedes South West, Exeter), always on time and looked after me like royalty if I waited for the service to be done rather than drop the car off (even was given a small office on one occasion so I could join an online work meeting), loads of hot drinks, cakes etc!!

                      Wow.

                      What an attitude.

I hope they let you order another car in due course.

Have you tried an alternative dealer?
