Hi all, l am due to order new car in Feb and have decided to go ev direction. Have applied to council for written permission to have charger fitted to property. They have replied with a form to fill in requiring certain information from me such as fitment date, Western Power permission and other certificates from OHME etc before they will give me written permission. Any help/ advice greatly appreciated.

Ohme won’t commit to anything until you’ve ordered your ev, which isn’t helpful. If you put up the questions you want help with I’m sure someone here can give you an answer of some kind.
I’m just going through the process of getting Ohme to allocate an installer. I’ve filled in their survey and taken a bunch of pictures, so I may be able to help and there’s plenty who have been through quite complex installs.

January 18, 2024 at 4:58 pm #255707Hi MFillingham, many thanks l think main issue on form is my local council request fitment date which we all know will not be forthcoming unless as you say proof of car order and landlord permission written wise. I have sent completed form back and explained date required issues, we will see what happens.

Once the Survey has been completed WP will be contacted by the installation company, with the intent to install a chargepoint and “x” works are required or WP will be notified on completion along with your local buildings dept.
@Phaedra have you still got the paperwork Ohme sent you?January 18, 2024 at 5:23 pm #255714If you mean the stuff I sent to my Housing Association then yes 🙂
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I’m sure they have but, I’m sure they like to make things difficult!
As your aware, you will need written permission from your landlord, to have both a charger fitted and an allocated parking space, if you don’t have off road parking. Ohme will require this.
Your landlord can send out one of their electricians and notify Western Power if any work is required or this can be done after the survey by Ohme or their approved contractor. You can also speak with your supplier and request for any upgrade work to be carried out.
I’m sure @Pheadra will let you have all the chargers conformity paperwork as required.
Have a read of the Kerbocharge topic on here, much of it will be of interest, especially the bits related to HA’s.
January 18, 2024 at 9:58 pm #255732Thanks kezo, no problem with parking off road and electrical supply/meters all upgraded by council last couple of years and only about 2 meters from outside wall where charger would hopefully be situated.
January 19, 2024 at 12:54 am #255737I would fill form in with…
Installation date – TBC (Motability contract Ohme to install charger and installation date will be forwarded once known.
@Phaedra if you don’t mind supplying Ohme compliance papers etc, which should satisfy the LA on all questions.Following completion of the survey, the installer will “connect & notify” Western Power. (see attached documentation)
Unless you know what you are doing I would leave it to the installer to notify the relevant bodies (as is the norm). By all means I can upload a fillable form, to use online and assist with filling it out but, seriously this is a job for the installer to avoid errors and will have their details on it.
As is the norm with the majority of domestic installs, permission to install isn’t usually required, rather conect & notify. – (The installer has to assume that the cut-out fuse size is
60A. If ollowing the installer’s calculations, confirms that the customer’s
installation total load will not exceed 60A at any time then thereis no need for a DNO assessment and the install can proceed and an appropriate notification sent.)Any issues with the LA, I’m happy to help further 🙂
January 19, 2024 at 5:00 pm #255800I hope your HA is better than mine. I was told I couldn’t have one as they didn’t have a policy on EV chargers. My MP was furious and tore them a new one didn’t change anything so I just opted to go-ahead and not tell them.
If you don’t have a 100A fuse you could contact the DNO and get that happening whilst you’re awaiting stuff from the others. I needed a fuse upgrade as mine was 60A and a new incomer as mine was looped with next door. I managed to get all that in motion whilst Motability and BP were not fitting my charger lol
January 19, 2024 at 6:38 pm #255810Hi Rich44, thanks for that just checked and fuse box rated 100amp thankfully. The form the local authority sent me to fill in was actually titled Fitment of EV charger to property and fortunately the good people on this fantastic forum supplied the info l needed to fill it in so fingers and toes crossed.
