Looks like Skoda/VW have def. buggered up access to the cars API for Ohme.
Plugged in tonight at 8pm ready for tonights charge, soon as I confirmed connection the App started charging and saying the battery was at 0% – 0 miles range.
So, put it on pause and will re-start at 23:30 and set it to add 55%. Pain in the bum as I’ve been up since 6am and out for most of the day running a club shoot. I was hoping to get a shower while my son is here and an early night but not going to happen now 🙁

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I did have a hiccup the other day whereby the car took a charge at peak time, but it has been okay since. Something may well be afoot.
Hopefully, the charging will ‘fix’ itself soon for you.

March 17, 2025 at 9:14 am #299578I tried removing and re-pairing the car and also selecting a different model. Both times it said it couldn’t access my Skoda account so had to continue un-paired (which is why it can’t read the battery info etc. from the car).
I managed to get into my Skoda account via the MySkoda App, logged out and in again to make sure I had the correct details so it’s not me giving the Ohme App the wrong info.
Hopefully Ohme will sort it out.

March 17, 2025 at 9:46 am #299585Whats the car software version? And the app version?
I’m on 5.2 for the car and 8 for the app.

Have you gone through the Help section on the App?
March 17, 2025 at 11:33 am #299595Yes, I’ve had it working properly for well over a year, the only thing that has apparently changed is Skoda/VW’s renewed attempts to restrict access to the cars API by 3rd parties like Ohme etc.
Car is 4.0 and App is 2.51 (Android), as I said it’s worked fine previously apart from the odd hiccup. Going by other Skoda groups it’s Skoda/VW blocking 3rd party access, which they say they’ve never allowed. It’s just taken a while to get to me by the look of it as others have had the same problem going back months.
Ohme say they are aware of it and are looking into it, the same thing they said the last time it cropped up for some users (who still don’t have it sorted).

March 17, 2025 at 2:56 pm #299606Hmmm, I’m on the iPhone app.
It all sounds like a dogs dinner doesn’t it. So close to being great, but when rubbish like this happens, it is so frustrating.

March 17, 2025 at 3:26 pm #299610Indeed 🙁
I usually plug in early evening or even mid-afternoon when I’m more mobile, set the App to give say 100% by 08:00 and then that’s it, it’s all set and will charge during the night starting at 23:30 or whenever it gives the off-peak rate.
Now it looks like I’ll have to plug in but not confirm the charger connection on the Ohme App until 23:30 as it starts charging straightaway. Then set what percentage I want to add.
It’s not exactly difficult but some nights I’m simply not physically able to stay up that late.
Hopefully things will go back to normal but if not then at least I can still charge at the off peak rate.

March 17, 2025 at 4:48 pm #299619Could you get Octopus to control the charger rather than the car whilst things settle down?

March 17, 2025 at 8:39 pm #299627As long as the app is setup to charge with Octopus and Ohme controlling the charge rate then it doesn’t matter the time of day you get it at the night time rate. Between them they assign the dynamic charging times this was how I had to do it with the Scenic and never been charged the day rate when the car is charging.
March 17, 2025 at 10:17 pm #299630I don’t use the car to control the charge, never have.
I set it up using the excellent guide I’ve frequently linked to on here for setting up octopus Intellegent Go with the Ohme charger.
It’s always worked as it should until the last couple of charges.
Octopus will no longer allow day time dynamic charging, they notified customes a couple of weeks ago (or maybe a bit longer),
“Ensure Dynamic Charging is on with the amount of charge you’d like to add or the target you want to reach and a ‘Ready by time’ set between 4am – 11am.”Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
March 17, 2025 at 11:20 pm #299631I’ll keep an eye on it over the next few days it was using dynamic charging last week.
March 17, 2025 at 11:55 pm #299634Mine still says that, but, I really don’t think it is as it’s not communicating correctly with the car API.
No matter what time I connect it now it starts charging immediately, it still says all your charging will be at the off peak rate. But, the first time it did this (about 8pm when I plugged in) it also said it was going to charge from 0 to 100% with an end time of something like 12:45pm the next day, that would certainly not have been at the off peak rate.

March 18, 2025 at 12:07 am #299635For a third party energy app to be able to control the car, there is a need for a working control connection from the EV manufacturers servers to the car and from the third party to the manufacturers servers. A data connection is also required to form a link from the servers to the car.
Unfortunately, if an EV manufacturer’s server is being overwhelmed due to volume of requests, the EV manufacturers system has reached its limit capacity, either temporarily or the manufacturer chooses to break the link with third party companies.
March 18, 2025 at 1:47 pm #299669Have you just tried to use it unpaired and set the percentage to add rather that what percentage to achieve.
On the ohme users Facebook group page most suggest not to pair your car as its more reliable, my cars app can tell me the SOC then one add 5% or 10% to account for losses, to what you need.
On my car I have the max SOC set at 90% so when it hits that it stops charging.

March 18, 2025 at 4:04 pm #299677Yes, I said in an earlier posting(s) that’s what I’m having to do.
It’s not a problem just means I have to be up until 23:30 to confirm the connection to the charger as once done it starts charging straightaway no matter what time it is.
Given the amount of running about I had to do yesterday and today, and another trip or two to my daughters later this week I could well be needing a second charge by the weekend!.

March 18, 2025 at 6:28 pm #299681Can you not set the times and max percentage charge in the car and turn off dynamic charging in ohme. It should then only start charging at 11.30pm and end at 5.30am or end at 80% if set at that max SOC. Until a solution is found.
As then the car won’t allow the session to start until then, no matter when you plug it in. It’s kind of how I charge now I’m with eon next drive. No way I’m staying up till 12am to make sure it’s charging at the cheap rate.

I think I can, up until now I’ve avoided looking at the cars system due to Ohme/Octopus working correctly.
There’s also multiple times I’ve seen posts about the Skoda/VW servers not working and the car failing to charge.
As I said, it’s not a major problem just have to adjust things around it. However, I’ll certainly keep using the cars systen in mind 🙂
