We’ve had the car 2 weeks. We went to Dorset last week travelling from the Northwest of England 880 mile round trip. We have the 85 model and started with 100% charge from home charger. Didn’t encounter a single issue finding chargers.
Charged twice at Tesla Superchargers, 3 times at MER rapids and and quick 20% boost at Shell Recharge.
Both Tesla chargers were empty, multiple free bays, we managed to use the end bay of an older v2 charger (short cable) which meant we could park in the free (none charger) bay next to it so as not to block a bay. The other Tesla was a V4 with very long cable. I was amazed at the speed Teslas were turning up charging and going.
We were staying in Dorset and there were 2 MER rapid and 2 fast chargers near our accommodation, I topped up there 3 times just to keep on top. Only ever saw 1 other car there.
Coming back the weather was atrocious, heavy rain and cold, the range was borderline so decided to add a boost, found a shell service station with 16 rapid chargers, only 1 was in use.
Charging Prices:
Tesla £18.24 32.5kw 56p
Tesla £20.62 42.9kw 48p
MER £13.92 22.3kw 62p
MER £16.10 25.8 62p
MER £8.56 13.7kw 62p
Shell £19.60 23kw 85p
Final point, I was very sceptical about the Motability Go Cgarge card, but I’m a convert. It was brilliant, super easy tap and go, worked every where except Tesla. It also got us a discount at MER, their advertised ZapMap price was 78p, Go Charge price was 62p. Also, not only do they not take a pre authorisation, I’m convinced they don’t even take the payment until the next day.
A bit long but I hope some may find it interesting.
