Received an email my Go rate is due to end on the 3 March 2022, old rate 5 pence off peak, normal 13.92 pence .
New rate from 3 March fixed for 12 months 7 1/2 pence off peak and normal 30. 78 pence
Just waiting for the gas tariff to shoot up ?

PsuaderSo, the house of sand arguments about e cars starts to wither. I realise that’s an exaggeration but the ‘savings’ against ICE become less and less convincing as charges increase. And increase they will!
January 17, 2022 at 2:49 pm #174694@Oscarmax. Ouch that is a big rise. My Go rate is similar to yours and is due to end in May so I will expect an email in a couple of months, I hope it does not rise even further than your rate.
January 17, 2022 at 3:03 pm #174695my rate is about 21p flat.. guess that’ll go up dramatically too.

,
Apparently the government are raising the rate cap limit , so unless you are fixed rate in our area its going to be 25 pence plus for a variable rate.

XThankfully I secured a 2 year fixed rate in Aug 2021. I only have electricity where I live, £55 per month. Never goes over. I get the Warmer Home Discount too which is £140 credit. Should be applied end of this month or the next.
Not allowed to have a EV charging point installed so will be relying on BP Pulse subscription from the mobility scheme.

Not realy in the past 12 months I have used approximately 1465 kW @ 5 pence = £73.25, at the new 71/2 pence rate it will cost me 109.88, so £36.63 a year difference it not going to kill me

Over the Moon that was until I read on the BBC that my provider is on the verge of going bust next week. ?

JamesThat does seem a large increase, especially during the peak rate but it looks like you was on a good deal.
ours is 5.5 on the go rate and 23 the rest of the time.
Even if electric rises like they suggest in the coming months our ev will still be so much cheaper to run than our xc40
January 18, 2022 at 9:35 am #174741Had 2 suppliers go bust in the last 12 months, each time allocated a “supplier of last resort” (British Gas)
1st time took 4 months to find another company and that stint cost double the normal monthly payments (£360+)
This time with the price increases the monthly D/D is set at £290, don’t know how long it’ll stay at that rate.

Received another email from Octopus, apparently my rate was due to change on the 20th February 2022, not 3rd March 2020, and as an apology due to their mistake they extended my current rate of 5 off peak and 13.72 until 3rd March 2023. I could not be happier. Just have to wait for the gas that’s on a flexible tariff.

Stupid me just realised my gas prices have already increased from 2.71 kWh to 3.82 i.e. 41%
