With so many cars currently being at or around the £3,750 AP mark, my guess is £4,000 will be the new maximum; and with overall general increases to offset the industry downturn.

That AP suggestion does seem logical as does your reasoning behind it.

On a side note, a friend who works at Alfa Romeo as a salesperson has hinted that an entry level, RWD Stelvio might join the scheme with a £3750 – £4000 AP.

I don’t think they will change much, they are already quite high and I think they will keep prices firm to see how this brexit stuff plays out.

With Ap’s around £3750-4000 it is fast becoming unaffordable to get a decent car. Are we being forced to drop down to lower spec cars? If folk can no longer afford these high AP’s will they drop off the quarterly lists?

@joss I think the prices are reasonable still when you take into account that nil ap cars and grants are available for those who cannot afford the aps, as the majority of people leasing have to pay at least that plus higher monthlies with nothing extra covered. And the majority of people get a used car for much less than the cost of a lease anyway, we are getting security and a safety net with the cars on motability as we can benefit from the independence of what a car brings. The aps are less than what they were in 2011 for a lot less like a golf 1.6 for £6000 down.

It can be slightly unfair if like me being a tall, large chap and I need of an auto transmission, to fit in a small low manual car with almost no distance between the actual foot peddles.

Also lots of some people have ended up with a disability later in life, point being loss of possible high earnings resulting in some of the more expensive motabillity cars are an actual down grade of vehicle.

So there need to be an understanding that not everyone is 4’10” with tiny feet and earning minimum wage with the need to save the World..

Im not saying we need to be driving huge gas guzzlers, That’s up to the manufacturer to sort out, however take foot size for instance, if your shoe size is say 10, you wouldn’t buy a size 4 training shoe to run a marathon because they were kinder to the planet.

Ajn that’s a fair point , I drive the Volvo XC60 while the car is in the dealer I got v mokka I find it so small  I think pedals are so close together, the seats are small and space between to front seats is smaller I’m only 5 f 4 but I fell cramped .

is it my imagination are all the above small than the Volvo anyone know .

a car with more space inside makes it more relaxing and enjoyable to drive ..

I used to be able to order in jan Q1 and every car i had on the scheme had risen in price from Q4 but i could not place the order till Q1. But look sometimes there winners and losers and it can be just down to timing as well.

Like with a new model coming out i have noticed on a few, i was looking at and with no second hand sales of them, the markets not in the know and those that set the 2nd hand residual prices work on a 3 month basis so then those cars can rise in ap.

As for shoes and feet size autos only have 2 pedals and i do find them better for larger feet and as for low cars my last 2 have been low and i must say i prefer the driving experience.

No cars easy for me to get into. but it’s once you in that matter most and that it’s practical for all your needs and in that dept we all may differ. So it really is important to get a test drive and at least sit in the model you will be getting as a test drive is not always available in all specs / trim levels.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Aygo1991 sadly don’t think that will ever be on the scheme as its nearly £10k over the threshold but we can dream.</p>

I don’t know Jamie, he seemed pretty adamant. What is the current threshold for automatic cars?

Aygo1991 I believe they go on base model prices so as long as the most basic model of the car is under the threshold which is £29500 for manual and £30500 for auto then there is room for negotiation with the brand and motability. But with the stelvio starting at £39k I really can’t see it coming on the scheme unless alfa are really struggling to get numbers on the road then you could see it on the scheme for a very very short amount of time just get the numbers up but would be at a rather big discount to motability. Would also depend on the insurance group as there is a maximum on motability.

Ah, ok. Thank you for your response! The Stelvio does start at Group 29, below the maximum Group 30 allowed by Motability. Nonetheless, I’ll keep an open mind ?.

Aygo1991 I must admit it would be great if it did come on but I don’t hold my breath.
