Disappointed with Ford

Today my local Ford dealer informed me that he cannot now guarantee the previously agreed delivey date for my new Ford Puma. I immediately pulled out of the deal. This follows a similar experience with a Mercedes dealer that kept extending the delivery date for a Mercedes A Class that i’d signed up for.

I agreed to the lower spec Ford Puma Titanium because Ford Guilford told me that the vehicle was in stock & in their compound therefore the lead time would be only two weeks instead of December for a factory made car.

Initially due to failing health, which then led into the Covid-19 lockdown have been housebound since early January and i’m not kidding when i say that i am quite literally going nuts looking at my four walls week after week, month after month so for me delivery date for a car is far more important than even type of car, brand, colour, specification etc.

My advice to dealers is please don’t guarantee a delivery date if you cannot guarantee a date!

Now its back to the motability website for me to begin my search for a vehicle all over again.

Being that i’m terminally ill i’m now now not feeling confident that i will ever get behind the wheel of a car again!

Sorry to hear that Graeme. How on earth can they not get you a stock car from their compound in less than 2 weeks? Have they double booked the one you ordered with another private punter possibly? Whatever the case it certainly isn’t great business for sure. Hope you find something else you like and can quickly get your hands on it.

I too Graeme am very much the same as the time scale being at home.

I have a slightly better outlook to getting behind the wheel though.

My car have been ordered on the 18th Aug this year, the worse case scenario date already have been pushed back.

It is infuriating & disappointing however we have joined at possibly the worst time in history.

Try keep your head up mate, I know how hard it is but try..

Graeme, keep going, get on the phone, to the dealers, you will have to do their job for them, use their car stock checker, to track down the car you want, waiting times are getting longer, and covid is still causing havoc, with more local lockdowns. Mercedes has a stock checker, so if you fancy that merc, hunt it down. Best of luck.

Graeme, if you go onto Ford web site then go to build a puma there’s a option to view puma stock.

Graeme, you may have to travel, you want a stock car the the dealer has, either in the showroom or storage, or a cancelled order, not somewhere else, as often, especially if it’s sort after, the other dealer won’t hand it over easily, or it gets sold. Pay a decent deposit, get some paperwork, keep hold of his business card, and get regular updates, keep a close eye on the process.

                      UPDATE:

After cancelling my order for the Ford Puma yesterday after the dealership informed me that they may not be able to honour their previous commitment to give me my car within the specified time frame of 2 weeks  the dealership has come back to me to inform me that if i reconsider my decision to pull out they will have my car ready to drive away by Friday. I very happily agreed.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to comment.

That’s great news. The new Fords are a joy to drive. I love my Focus. Hope your Puma gives you as much enjoyment.
