      Hi there,

I’ve got a long term petrol courtesy car from nissan and it’s costing me an extra £7 a day to fuel it, compared to my electric car.  Can I claim that back from Nissan?  thanks for any advice

why not though.  It’s a Nissan warranty issue and entirely their fault…

Its a Mobility car, so your direct claim is through them not Nissan however, Motability don’t don’t claim to offer a like for like hire car, other than they will do our best to give you as suitable a replacement for your needs.

“Most replacement vehicles are small five-door cars. If this is not suitable because of your disability or adaptations, please mention this when you ask for a replacement. We might not always be able to give you something that suits your needs, but we’ll offer you alternatives.”

thanks, I get all that, and understand, but this car hasn’t come from Motability.  It’s a car from the nissan garage.  I don’t want a car from Motability again as frankly they’ve been awful over all of this.  My Ariya has been in the garage so much with ev malfunctions and between them and the RAC and Europcar, I’ve lost the will to deal with them.  I’ve asked Nissan Customer care – nothing to lose.  I paid a massive down payment on the Ariya and its just so frustrating.

Have you considered telling Motability that you have lost trust in the car and have no confidence it will be repaired to satisfaction, due to the amount of faults and time the car has been in the workshop since taking delivery. They will likely let you change it early and receive a pro rata refund on the AP, you can use towards another car?

You might be best just handing the hire car back and getting your pip mobility component money back and hire an EV car yourself with the money until the Aryia is fixed.
