We need new upvc guttering and fascia boards. Anyone got any ideas on what we should expect to pay for a semi with guttering, down spouts & fascias to front & back.

Depending on the colour/size facia boards around £30 per 5m (L5m x D150mm x W9mm) expect to pay a bit more for 12mm thick.
Guttering depending colour/shape about £10 per 4mtr length (square)
Down spout about about about £11 4m lenth (square)
Connections about a fiver each.
These are the prices I paid couple months ago from my local plastics centre, to do groundfloor, which I did with help of a neighbour
I had upstairs redone spring last year (save painting) by someone recommended. I think it cost around £400ish
Its worth pricing the bits up yourself, at least that way you will get an idea of labour costs and whether they are ripping you off or not!

Yeah, I’m all for getting a scaffolder in and doing it myself, I could easily do it with help of family but Mrs Joe freaks out at the thought of me “Going up scaffolding”.

May 19, 2023 at 1:04 am #221755Ive worked at heights through out my working life, yet mrs kezo is the same especially since I was taken ill, worring about me and if soething would happen, who is going to help look after our disabled daughter. It isn’t worth stressing your loved ones out especially if they rely on you for certain things 🙂
Have a search for your local plastics shop, do a quick workout of the prices and ask them if they can recommend anyone on either the whole job or labour only. If its someone like a window installer, you’ll find they would do it off ladders anyway, given many put windows in this way!
What do you currently have UPVC or Wood fascia boards?
May 19, 2023 at 8:37 am #221762We have plastic at the moment but they are over 20 years old and looking a bit tired.

May 19, 2023 at 8:51 am #221763I paid £ 700 for the front of my home. That was taking everything back to bare timbers and renewing where required. Used 12mm profiles all over. Guys did a great job, So I got them back to do the rear of my property.

If your original fascia boards were painted and you think they are suspect do as joss has done.
Are you going to replace the sofit and barge boards at the same time!
You may find tis useful as a guide:

There are also specialist companies who clean fascia’s etc. Providing they haven’t yellowed (if white), which I very much doubt, they will come up like new at fraction of the price.
May 19, 2023 at 10:33 am #221767Wasn’t going to bother with the sofits, just the gutter and fascia. I may even just get them cleaned. There’s a full length conservatory at the rear so even if I just go down cleaning route (vegetation is growing in the gutter) it will likely need to be scaffolded which will add £££.

May 19, 2023 at 1:01 pm #221778Scafolding wouldnt be that expensive for the rear especially if you see a scaffoding company out and about and ask if they would do a cash job.
I pay about £250 cash for 3 landings on my gable endever couple years to clean algae/moss of top end render that was supposedly self cleaning and free from lichen.
Cleaning would get them looking as good as new from what I saw when my neghbour had his done. However it doesn’t harm getting a price for both new or clean and go with whats best. The company who did my neighbours also jetwashed his roof and applied a coating, which i don’t recommend as it will look like it hasn’t been done within a few months.
May 19, 2023 at 6:04 pm #221816My window cleaner does ours. He has teleosopic Tool that has camera attached and high pressure water supply and verious other tools that connect to a very powerful vac.
It really does a very good job. Oncce gutters are cleand of debris they are then washed out with foam brush and vaced dry. The soffits and facia are then cleaned. Well worth the £ 70.00 he charges.

I had on my mind a company going up on ladders with specialist upvc cleaners.

I’ve seen a few specialist gutter cleaners locally that use a large vac that can go over a conservatory or extension, they have a camera on the head so you can see what’s going on in the gutter.
