Good video from Dave (Dave Takes It On) showing how to get cheap EV charging when you can’t charge at home. Basically says ignore street chargers and rip off networks, lists a few alternatives that give discounts with membership and then charge weekly.

I see his logic but its still damn expensive, if you can’t charge at home compared to say a petrol car.

He is talking 140 miles ( 40kW x 3.5mpkW). Even at a 24p Tesla charger, its still costing £47.39 inc subscription. My uneconomical car only does 35mpg but, even at £1.50l or £6.81 gallon it only costs just over £27 to cover the same amount of miles, even cheaper if you have a hybrid or more economical car.

I’m not trying to be detromental but, rather proving a point, that if you can’t charge at home an EV is much more expensive to run than a a petrol or hybrid car.

40kWx£0.24=£9.60, pluss the £8.99 is £18.59. if you can access some of the cheaper AC posts, 40ish pence a kW, you could charge for about the same price as no subscription costs

            You are right Shaun!

After watching the guys video again its seems he is basing over 4 weeks (40 x 4 x 0.24 + 8.99), which he didn’t make clear IMO.

That makes more sense. Must confess, I didn’t actually watch the video so never picked up on it.
