      hi

im at a bit of a pickle so to speak, im not entirely sure what to do, so i thought i would open it up.

I have on order, due in the next 4 weeks or so, a DS4 (tivoli spec – with upgraded speakers) with a AP of 3.5k and a optional extra in the speakers of 1k) meaning its a 4.5k downpayment

I do a lot of miles traditionally, previous to march i did around 100 miles a day. Currently due to a change of work, until next june i will do maybe 20 a day for work, and 10 personal miles, plus more at the weekend

this car would have been ok, sure it would have been a high-ish petrol spend, but no worse than the A class i have now.

then unfortunately the price of petrol flew up, it means im spending around 60-70 pounds a week on petrol

i love the DS4, i think it looks fantastic. Really a step up from the A class, with design and tech, nothing else really is.

however im tempted to cancel it, and order a hybrid (plug in) or full electic.

Ive possibly been looking at the entire peugeot range, from the e208 to the 308 and 3008 hybrids (test driving one tomorrow) as they are pretty nice inside the car, but not quite as good as the DS

what would you do, the downpayment of 4.5k doesnt really bother me, but originally a plug in wouldnt have been a huge saving, with petrol being around 110p when i ordered the DS.

would you just stick with what ideally you want, or would you look at the 308 or potentally look at another car, and risk a wait until october/december time.

The more compromises you make the less happy you will be. Make a list of your requirements and rank them in order of importance, then try to make any compromises from the less important items.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

wardy, i more or less have

i love the ds4, i really do – its a great car to look at, I think a 308 hybrid will do, essentially its the same chassis, im just not sure if “will do” is good enough!

cost savings, after recent price increases – should be substantial

shoecake – only you can ultimately decide which car is best for you having weighed up all the pros & cons.

But… if I had that kind of AP for a car similar to the DS4, lovely car that it is, but with the ever-increasing cost of petrol that won’t be coning down any time soon, I would seriously be tempted to check out the new Peugeot 308 hybrid. Apart from the stunning looks inside & out as well as superb comfort, the 308 Hybrid 225 GT 5dr e-EAT8 Hatchback at £3,499 or the fully loaded 308 Hybrid 225 GT Premium 5dr e-EAT8 Hatchback at £4,099 would be at the very top of my list!

There are plenty of reviews on YouTube regarding mpg, electric range, comfort, toys etc in the new 308 if you are interested. As I say; personally, it’s THE best looking hatchback out there in my eyes. I would also check out the Toyota Corolla GR Sport 2.0 hybrid which again is a terrific, pretty frugal car with stunning looks and great reviews.

            Decisions decisions 😉

              I understand.

The corolla doesn’t really interest me

However it’s the 308gt premium I would go for, and I must admit, the more I look the more I’m tempted

I currently have the 308’s little brother, the 208 GT Premium 130, and I have to say it is wonderful – so much fun and I couldn’t be happier. If I ever needed a slightly bigger hatchback, I would order the 308 GT Premium in a heartbeat in that metallic green. Fourteen months on and I still smile every time I walk up to it.

Despite owning 20-odd various cars in all my years of driving – only this little 208 has really captured my heart & still has me walking around it once a week admiring its looks!

That’s not good 208s I believe are more or less instantly available (I will go anywhere in the country for the right car)

I just thought they were a little small originally!

The 308SW is the one to go for!
