Ldc7080So I have a Honda Civic sport plus. RRP about £28k. Forget any motability discount at point of sale without VAT the cost to Motability is £22.4k. My AP was £2k. And over the course of what will be a at least 4 yrs my PIP contribution is a little of £13k. Now I know I get tyres , break down and insurance but as it stands I reckon that’s cost £1.5k at the most. So the delta . Motability need to clear about £7.5 k to break even. On auto trader my car is still selling at about £17k. So Vat removed £14k. That is £6.5k profit. Isn’t it feasible that after 3 years we should not have to pay the full PIP allowance as they are clearly raking it in ?

When it comes to extending the lease of a Scheme car, if you are happy with the car and you don’t have to find the large Advance Payment for the replacement what is the issue? The car is fully covered? Is the sole issue the fact that Motability may be making more money?
I think you are refering to my comment 🙂
Yes I was happy with my last car, plus it did a dam sight more mpg than my current lease. However we are all different and its not for me.
I agree your lease is covered for all eventualities and routine sevice costs, but statistically only 1 in 10 will need work doing above a routine service in the first 5 years. I envisage MB also take out service plans as they work out cheaper.
If the sole issue is the fact of MB making money or more on an extended lease. I would expect far fewer would be on the scheme.

Something really needs to happen to the Motability scheme. That document is a good starting point. We as customers and end users of the scheme also need to be consulted, and have a voice that is taken seriously by the scheme and its management.
It makes me balk that – “We believe salaries at all levels are especially above benchmark levels, and are generally supplemented by generous benefits for pension, private healthcare, car allowances etc.”
Something else I would like to see, is the moving of one Motability offices be moved up to say Sheffield or Leeds.

This is worth £2000 minimum a year. I had private medical insurance a few years ago for me and my partner. I had to cancel it when the monthly payments went over £300.

Some of us have been flagging these things for years Joejoe and yet, incredibly, there are some on here who defend it. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with a company that is doing well paying their staff well and offering good benefits – but this level of remuneration and benefits is completely over the top and pretty much unheard of in any business these days, let alone a call centre.
The things that make it even worse, IMHO, are that they have no sales targets to meet, they are in a monopoly situation and, worst of all, their income comes from those with severe disabilities, many of whom will be struggling to make ends meet. If their total remuneration package was more in line with other call centre employees, such as your partners, the AP’s could be considerably less.
I don’t agree with much that the Scottish government come up with, as they seem to be focussed on one issue only, whilst everything else around them that they are responsible for is falling to pieces, but they are spot on with their challenge in this area.
