      Hi all,

So just short of my one year anniversary since ordering an ID3 via motability.

I notice it was removed from motability earlier in the year. Was just curious has anyone received their ID3 this year and if so when they ordered?

Or has anyone finally been told theirs will be ready this year as like most I can’t get any accurate information from VW and just wondering if I’m chasing a lost cause at this stage.

      Thanks

I think Matrix lights are an issue, but i think the real stumbling block is the AR HUD of which both Tour and Max have and the others do not.

I have had my Volkswagen ID.3 Tour On order from VW Mansfield since 10 Oct 2021 via Motability

and still no build date. My wife ordered a VW ID.3 family pro at the same time and took delivery early Nov 2022

unreal situation and lack of updates is a joke.

My ID 3Tour was on order from August 2021.No communication from the Dealer or VW UK unless I asked.Mainly push back after push back. Here we are in January 2023 no confirmed build date at all.New revised model launching in March 2023 at almost another £10,00 in cost.Which I was quite bluntly told I won’t have by the Sales Manager.

I came to the conclusion I will never ever get it and they will start cancelling 1st Edition Max and Tour  orders in favour of building the new better equipped model which has its order books open now for delivery end of the year.

Had enough of the VWs behaviour over this so cancelled the order and ordered a Petrol Skoda Karoq Sportline instead which will be with me by April….hopefully.

Ohme Charger fitted by MB in November 2021 now gathering dust. What a waste of time and money.

Hi Imran.  i ordered a Tour Pro S sept-21.  i have had news from VW dealer that i now have a confirmed build week 07  so if all goes well i should hope to take delivery by the end of March  i also saw from a facebook group another customer with build week 07 for a Tour and someone with a Max order build week 06.

VW have to get a move on now with this backlog as it stops them from making the facelift which has a planned launch of springtime this year.

you do realise that you will now be expected to pay for the charger don’t you?  the deal is that the offer is open to customers who place an order for a BEV car only .

I also ordered 14/10/21 and still no confirmed build date. I’m considering cancelling but not much else can match the spec of the tour for the price

Hi Outrigger81, I wonder if you could confirm if you do have to pay for the charger now you have switched to a petrol vehicle as its something I have wondered about as I could be in a similair position.  I understand that you may not know the answer to this yet but I would be gratefull if you or anyone else has the answer in due course, Thanks.

                        Barry,

Nothing was said from MB regarding the charger. They are well aware re the supply issues for this Vehicle, so there were no problems in choosing another .Put quite simply ,I had been waiting so long with no specific confirmed build date from VW just ifs and maybes.I was not prepared to place my life on hold anymore due to incompetence by VW.

A further slap in face was having waited 16 months and being told a load of excuses  (COVID,War in Ukraine,Chip Production,Chinese lock down etc etc etc etc) by the Dealer and VW UK  for VW then to introduce a facelift version for the Spring which will not be supplied to those who have waited so long.Maybe if they had not built the new Cupra BORN and the ID5 at the same factory and concentrated on the orders they had in hand, things would have been different. If had privately purchased one I would be angrier than I am.

Quite frankly the handling of this production of the ID3 has got to be one of the biggest fails of the Motor Industry ever.

If MB want the charger back they are more than welcome to remove it off my property.

                          I’m with you Outrigger81.

My mum has a Tour on order from Aug 2021. It’s now going on 19 months, without a build date. I don’t know how VW can put the blame on shortages, whilst building and releasing the Born, ID.4 and ID.5.

I ordered a Qashqai Tekna ePower, with my own. It’s due around late March/early April 2023.

If the QQ is ready for collection first, the the ID.3 is getting cancelled. The fixed rates have ended now, so back on variable tariff. If I get on average 60+mpg from the ePower, then my average journey costs, will be +/- £3.00 a day between both vehicles. So, there’s not much in it.

Hi no hand controls needed at present  as I have one leg I’m only getting pedal extensions fitted which the garage already ordered some weeks ago on my behalf.

                                      Hi all,

So finally got an update and hoping it’s correct. Got a message this morning from dealer confirming my build is confirmed for next week and then will be shipped to German Port. Further updates to follow once this is done.

So roughly 14 months from order to build week. It is the Tour VW ID3 which I had all but given up but here’s hoping things go smoothly and maybe have the vehicle in 6-12 weeks.

                                      Anyone else have any updates?

Seems there us a facelifted version arriving 1st March according to Autocar:

“The facelifted Volkswagen ID 3 will arrive on 1 March with upgraded infotainment software, a better-quality interior and a subtle design refresh.

Previewed in an official Volkswagen Linkedin post (below), the updated ID 3 will be told apart from the outgoing car – launched in 2020 – by distinctive new LED rear light patterns which form part of the “sharpened, even more striking design”. Dynamic indicators and new X-shaped daytime running lights are visible in the preview.

Coming two-and-a-half years after the first customer deliveries of the electric family hatchback, the ID 3’s mid-life changes weren’t originally planned for this year, but its release was brought forward in reaction to well-publicised issues with software.

As such, the updated ID 3 will arrive with the latest generation of Volkswagen’s ID software package, which is claimed to provide improved reaction times and a smoother user experience.

It’s displayed on an upgraded, 2in-larger (now 12in) touchscreen, which is mounted on a restyled dashboard and features illuminated controls within its base, as the old climate controls which were difficult to see in the dark.

Following similar criticism of the interior quality of the original ID 3, more upmarket materials will also be used inside.“

so, sounds like they stopped production to bring this facelift into production

If you are still waiting of which there are many for Max and Tour Models you will not get the facelift model. The new ones won’t be ready for delivery until the autumn (costing £10,000 more)and in the meantime they will clear their books of the old. That’s if you get one at all and when you do after waiting nearly two years it will have the old software ,interior and tech and it’s shell sat in a yard for months waiting for the parts. VW should be ashamed of themselves the way this Car has been marketed and sold.

I am not convinced what you say is all true.

Software is updateable and new ID3 cars have the latest version software, the cars have the newest interior and have the side sensors on for the latest tech. Cars sat around part built for two year? Sorry, I just don’t believe you, it sounds like fake news to me from social media.

Why would they be ashamed of the marketing and selling of this car? They should be ashamed of the communication and have started to trash their reputation. But they are not alone, things will get better and time will let people forget.

When did you order your ID3 and do you have insider information?

Your assumption is wrong, VW aswell as other manufacturers work on a just in time basis (JIT) and do not close a line down but continue to make shells and store them outside. At the very most there maybe be a few bonnets and door skins that have been pressed and left on racks inside the factory.

If they were waiting for ECU or modules that didn’t arrive due to the chip shortage the line would finish with the cars fully painted and built and left on the production line, waiting  for the electronic parts to come in and an engineer would go round and fit them installing any software at the same time. As @DumfriesDic said software is updated via a computer plugged  into the OBD2 connector on the vehicle.

From what I understand VW carried  on producing all but one varient of the ID3 to shorten lead times. If the line had been reporpesed for another model VW would have built the remaining ID3’s they had parts for and delivered them to customers. Based on the JIT system manufacturers are fully aware of their stock levels of various components.

Who told you this info your dealer?
