Anyone Like To Tear The Avenger Apart?

I’ve got a Jeep Avenger, Summit, on order. £999-£750, plus a few extras that I wanted and I’ll have a car that looks great and different, yellow with black roof, heated seats, powered tailgate, reversing camera, advanced cruise control, flat floor, heat pump, etc. I’ve had an electric car before and loved it.

So, apart from Jeep enthusiasts who will hate that it’s only two-wheeled drive and electric, so think it an abomination, is there anything that more knowledgeable people here than myself would like to say against it?

Very smart motor that. The summit is also the top spec but the lowest AP of the 3 on Motability. The only drawback for me would be Jeeps notoriously poor real world mpg with the Compass, hopefully this one is an improvement.Great choice of car if you can live with that though.

Whilst I personally wouldn’t want a Jeep, it will certainly be a lot better than the last Avenger that I had – a 1974 Hillman Avenger 1.6 Deluxe. BTW there was nothing Deluxe about it ?

Without a doubt! However, you could have done worse and gone for the Imp ??

made for interesting times on the autobahns sometimes though. and in the snow in winter lol. 2ft thick not the whimpy couple of inches we get here. lasted 3 years till a promotion meant i could afford to upgrade lol.

Great car, we’ve had VW &  then Skodas for 20 years, both great cars. The Enyaq is what we’re hoping to order in January.

                    Enyaq EV

Ah this jogged my memory and reminded me that I also once owned the original Avenger

Having had many many cars over the last 45yrs or so the Avenger is not one that stirs memories, worked ok and it was blue is about all that comes to mind.

As for tbe new Electric Avenger it looks Ok outside but imo the inside is dire and cheap

Matt Watsons car broke down 3 times when reviewing it so not a great look

Yet again each to their own and these are just my personal thoughts although to be fair

I havent yet seen one in the flesh

My Avenger was blue as well – a sort of sea blue / green colour that is now back in vogue ? It was my first car when I passed my driving test, so special in that respect, but was very unreliable. It was 9 years old when I bought it (for £340) and when you look at how reliable 9 year old cars are these days it makes you realise how far cars have advanced over the last 40 odd years. I replaced it a year later with a 3 year old Vauxhall Cavalier which, thankfully, was in a different league back then!

Like you I haven’t driven the new Jeep Avenger but I’ve driven, or been driven in, 3 or 4 different Jeep models and they have all been extremely underwhelming. I agree with others that the OP has made a wise decision in switching to a Skoda, which I’m sure will be much better all round.
