      hi everyone

just spoke to motobility regarding the additional mileage charge. even though i cant change yet i will be hit by the new mileage ruled – 25ppm.

if i hit the mileage i am anticipated to hit when i change – 42000 will cost £3000.

However there will be exceptions and this will be published by motobility prior to July. I assume this will be if yo will go over the 30000 miled.

Am I missing something here, they continually state those on current vehicle leases are not effected by the changes until renewal time.

So now your saying, from mb ops, the new milage starts now for all?

perhaps I should have been clearer.

my anticipated mileage this lease will be 42000 miles.

if this was to happen with my new lease, post july 2026 then at the end of my new lease it would cost me an additional £3000.

THIS IS NOT WITH MY CURRENT LEASE, IT WILL BE WITH A NEW VEHICLE POST JULY 2026

Correct. So then you will have to make a choice. Pay the £3000 excess mileage or leave the scheme before that new, post July 2026 lease starts.

It might be unfair and wrong, but it’s been very clear for a while now.

I am quite aware of that and am looking at alternative leases and vehicles.

There are plenty of good used EV deals you can get outside of Motability.  Polestar 4 dual motor Pro,  Skoda enyaq 85x, kia ev6 GT – all under 15,000 miles, one owner and under £35,000. Kia with 5 years of remaining warranty for example becomes very attractive deal for those who drive a lot and can charge at home.

Motability is still a good choice for some, but many more will be better off outside of the scheme.
