Hi an update i have been told my Abarth Automatic is being built this week and will be about 5 weeks away as it was delayed so i am happy with that it is having a 40kg wheelchair hoist fitted and other adaptions so the dealer was right that June would be the delivery time.

You must be really excited. I’m disappointed by the price hike in this quarter with the AP. Sounds like the dealer is looking after you.

Hi Gordon many thanks i got the Abarth at £495 AP which has gone up now, so that is helpful i used to have the Abarth 145bhp auto which they do not offer in Automatic anymore and i loved it as i do not use the back seats in fold them so there is a lot of room.

Hi Dave, I was so tempted and then dithered. I’ll have to see if it comes back down in price. I love the look of the Abarth and like you, I’d not need the rear seats. Many years ago I had a Toyota IQ auto and whilst small, with the back seats folded down it was perfect and you could turn on a sixpence. Abarth hasn’t offered the auto for ages hence being tempted. What colour did you opt for?

I have opted for the Campovolo grey as there is not so many choice of colours in Turismo as i used to have the podium blue which was so nice. The Toyota IQ was a great little car i used to have a Smart 89bhp turbo which was great. I still can not believe i can have the 40kg hoist in the boot as you say with seats folded there is room have you thought of asking for a grant towards the cost.

Thanks Dave, I’d not thought of a grant but it might be worth a try. I used to have a smart cabrio and absolutely loved that but it suffered from dreadful rusting around the wheels and hubs. I think it’s because I’m in the north east of Scotland with extensive salt each winter on the roads. The grey looks great. Like you say, amazing that you can get the hoist in there, fantastic.

Yes the Smart did look bad with the rusty hubs mine were on the rear although i had it repainted under warranty.Scotland with them highlandroads would be great for the Abarth. The Automatic Mazda mx5 used to be on motability but not even one on the scheme anymore the RF auto MX5 looks great, i still wonder why the new vw polo gti dsg is never been on motability which is a shame.

It’s such a shame that the MX5 is no longer on the scheme. I had a Mini Roadster 2 seater on motability. It was in the days where  a mini convertible was only £249 AP. I’d certainly look at the polo gti dsg if it were available. I’m a big fan of the smaller car and if it’s quirky then all the better.

I did have a Skoda Fabia estate vrs dsg a few years ago another underrated car it had loads of boot space and it was fast a shame they no longer have a Fabia VRS although i hear that there will be a Fabia Monte  carlo  1.5 soon dsg that will be a nice car if you can get hold of one that is.
